Skyrim Achievements Join the Leak Parade

Thanks to Skyrim you'll soon be able to add "dragon slayer," "woodcutter," and "life-long learner" to your achievement list resume.

It seems that you can't be a triple A title anymore without your achievement list leaking onto the internet. The latest "victim" is the newest Elder Scrolls game, Skyrim [http://www.amazon.com/Elder-Scrolls-V-Skyrim-Xbox-360/dp/B004HYK956/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1317721753&sr=8-1]. The list obviously contains some mild spoilers, but as is often the case with this sort of thing, they're rather minor.

The full list is as follows:

    [li]Citizen (10) - Buy a house[/li]
    [li]Wanted (10) - Escape from jail[/li]
    [li]Married (10) - Get married[/li]
    [li]Artificer (10) - Make a smithed item, an enchanted item, and a potion[/li]
    [li]Master Criminal (20) - Bounty of 1000 gold in all nine holds[/li]

    [li]Expert (25) - Reach Level 25[/li]
    [li]Master (50) - Reach Level 50[/li]
What's interesting about the list is that it's a lot closer to Fallout 3's achievement list than it is to Oblivion's. It also seems - and I'm assuming that if you've read this far you're not worried about minor spoilers - that you will have to choose a side at some point in the game as well. I really like the fact that there are rewards available for a wider range of activities than in Oblivion. You get points for exploring and tackling dungeons, for example, quite independent of any quest awards you might receive.

Skyrim comes out for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 on November 11th.

The achievements for the army and rebels excites me. We may finally have some control over the story.

Nice to see there is a healthy list of achievements in the game. Though, I am not a fan of missions having achievements attached to them unless they are side missions. For instance, the common achievement for just starting a new game, well, those are dumb. They should be something to seek out, not something you get along the way just because.

Does the Master Criminal achievement pretty much confirm that there are 9 major cities?

Was that common knowledge before?

I hate those obvious achievements, actually i dont like achievements in games at all.
I rather discover all that stuff by myself i do not want pop-ups or mentions of it while i play.
I was perfectly fine with the tab in my oblivion and Morrowind character screen showing me what i did and did not do.
Made the mistake of looking at my Deus Ex:HR achievement list before i was even 1/3 through the game, that spoiled some fun for me.
It gives it to much of an 'arcade-feel'. That's not a bad thing in some games, but it is to me in games that tend to have a more serious atmosphere.

The achievements for this game is much better than those of Oblivion, here at least we have more than "complete main story, complete expansion and complete guilds"

Does anyone know whether or not this will translate into trophies for PS3 (the way Oblivion's achievements didn't)?

I don't see why it wouldn't.

Every new game on the PS3 has trophies now, so I would expect them to be the same (with the addition of the 'collect all trophies' platinum, on the PS3).

This looks like a neat 100% completion for me.

And I can't wait. 38 days to go.

Learn 20 shouts
if a shout is 3 parts and you need 1 soul for each part
does that mean that there is are 60 dragons if not more!?

I remember reading that there are an unlimited amount of dragons in the game, so you won't be having to crawl every inch of the map looking for the last one

You are aware that you can turn off achievement notifications, right?

Wait, you can actually chose sides in the main quest?

Are you sure this game is being made by Bethesda?

Very much this. Achievements can be a nice idea when done properly, but I just don't see the point of having "achievements" that don't actually require you to achieve anything. Simply playing the game is not an achievement.
