7 Eleven Clerks Break GOW 2 Street Date

Uninformed 7 Eleven store clerks seem to be making gamers' days this week.

In all likelihood, the release of Gears of War 2 - officially set to launch tomorrow - is going to be catastrophically awesome. Apparently, a lucky few have managed to tap into that awesomeness a bit early, by taking advantage of the gaming industry naïveté of 7 Eleven store clerks.

Reports of 7 Eleven clerks breaking the GOW 2 street date surfaced earlier this week. similar experiences [http://www.gamegirl.com/profile/nikole/].

Hell, even Tycho over at Penny Arcade [http://www.penny-arcade.com/] was able to obtain two copies. His humorous post about the matter: "Hypothetical situation. Let's say you were to ask the people at 7 Eleven if they 'sell videogames. They may answer in the affirmative, and then hand you a stack of games, from which you may choose what you like. They might sell this game to you even if there is a sticker on it that expressly tells them not to do so."

It's unclear what, if any, repercussions 7 Eleven stores could see from their loose clerks' transactions. One might presume Microsoft is not amused, but in the end does it really matter? The world will experience chainsaw duels and glorious conflict against the Locust Horde soon enough.

I didn't evev know 7 Eleven stores sold video games...
I think the real questions are:

1) Why does 7 Eleven sell video games?
2) Why did Microsoft give a new title of awesomeness to 7 Eleven?

You can chalk em up to the list of things 7 Eleven sells. [http://penny-arcade.com/comic/2008/9/8/]

You could pick up Halo 3 at Sevs also. I think it's only for particularly high-profile games.

Who cares? What are they afraid of, that somebody will post a negative review before the release date and hurt sales? It's not like they didnt' already send copies to the media.

If I had a 7/11 in my area, I might have considered doing this, if I had not already ordered it online. I'll have it tomorrow... Oh well, too many games to play as is, a couple days in between wont kill me... Might make me cry alittle, but I do that at work anyways, I'll just combine the two. Now that's efficiency! You really can't blame them for getting into game either. At least it lends some credency to our hobby. Now all we need is for them to sell more Halo 3 Gamer Fuel, and we'll be rockin' it hard!
