Behold the Cutest Game of Thrones House Sigils Ever Created

The grittiness of Game of Thrones doesn't come near the cute little wolf, lion and fish in these drawings.

Part of the appeal of George R. R. Martin's fantasy epic series of novels is the bloody backstabbings contrasted with pomp and heraldry. Each powerful noble family or house in Westeros has a sigil or animal emblem proudly displayed in their stronghold and on banners before their armies, and the official house motto or words characterize the whole family. For example, the Stark family has a direwolf and the words "Winter is Coming" on their banners while the rival Lannisters have a golden lion with the motto "Hear Me Roar." Martin's description [http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110408162223/gameofthrones/images/0/08/House_Stark_banner.jpg], but I'm pretty sure French illustrator Renaud Forestié is the first to imagine them so - well - cute.

Forestié is a bit of a renaissance man. Not only is he a freelance artist and illustrator but he also has published 2 books, had his work appear in several art books, Reuno.org [http://www.acapela-group.com/index.php].

Splash fantasy and gaming nerd on his other talents and you have these amazingly cute drawings of the Houses of Westeros. Oh, and Forestié has been illustrating/interpreting the classes from Team Fortress 2. Check out the Spy here. [http://www.reuno.net/mini-tf2-89-the-spy]

Yeah, I think this Frenchman wins the Internet. At least for today.

Those are pretty cool. I love how the Targaryen motto is so at odds with the cute style of the picture.

Like Illyrio says in ADWD: "You Westerosi are all the same. You sew some beast upon a scrap of silk, and suddenly you are all lions or dragons or eagles." I think it's interesting how synonymous these symbols are with their respective Houses. Any fan of the books instantly knows at a glance which is which.

So as inappropriate as it might be, does anyone kind of... want to see a mock up of a Game of Thrones as a kids show? Like the Watchmen Friends?

Where's the flayed man of House Bolton ???
It looks like he concentrated on animal sigils. I imagine it would be hard to make the spears and shield of Dorne cute, or the flower bloom of Martell. Or a human being skinned alive for Bolton.

Yeah, "cute tortured dude" are not three word that should be combined. Ever.

Here's a joke:
