Dance Dance Revolution: The Musical Comes to NYC

Konami's arcade dancer, "Burnin' The Floor" in an off-broadway musical.

You don't have to hate Ohio Theatre [http://www.lesfreres.org/] into a "fully immersive, bombed-out discothèque as it fuses unmerciful Japanese rave music with deeply regrettable sophomoric comedy" based on Konami's legendary rhythm dancer.

Combining the best elements of cheesy dance musicals like Footloose and death sport films such as Rollerball (Brett Ratner, local street toughs [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/85980-Brett-Ratner-Wants-To-Do-A-Guitar-Hero-Movie] join forces with a mysterious dance prophet named Moonbeam Funk.

There will also be free beer to distract you from how awesome this is going to be.

If you live in the NYC area and this sounds like a good time to you, purchased [http://www.smarttix.com/show.aspx?showCode=DAN45] his tickets and I'll be sure to follow up with his thoughts, whether it was "So Fabulous, So Fierce" or if it just plain "Sung Suks."

Hmm...Trying to add a story to a music game, eh? That's a great idea.

...and I thought the musical genre couldn't manage to get any worse than High School Musical. Right, now I need to watch Sweeney Todd about 20 times to remind me what a good musical looks like.
Dude.

Apples and oranges. This is OFF Broadway.

I believe the frame of reference you're looking for is Bat Boy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bat_boy#Bat_Boy:_The_Musical ), or Road House (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Road_House_(1989_film)#Cultural_impact ), or The Toxic Avenger (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Toxic_Avenger_(musical) ), or The Evil Dead (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evil_Dead#Evil_Dead:_The_Musical ).

My version of DDR: The Musical? Video tape some guy playing said video game for two hours straight, split screen with one camera pointing towards his front (on the arcade machine) and the other centred on the screen to see his progress.

I think it'd be a hit. A dramatic retelling as to the lengths some humans go for social acceptance, a masterpiece of human emotion as one man struggles against a video game which has kept him down since the day he first put in that £1 coin.
