Red Dead Redemption DLC Discounted On XBLA

Did Santa forget to bring you a copy of Red Dead Redemption? Good news then: Microsoft's got it on sale today.

Microsoft's "12 Days of Deals" winter sale has provided some pretty steep discounts on some of the biggest games available for the 360, but today's deal may be the best so far. Major Nelson has just revealed that everything associated with Rockstar's cowboy opus Red Dead Redemption has had its price tag scalped.

The discount on the main game varies by region, though here in North America the game is currently 25% cheaper than normal and sitting at $29.99. Meanwhile, the rest of the game's DLC has been discounted by 50%: The Undead Nightmare Collection Pack is currently selling for 800 points, while each individual pack (Undead Nightmare, Liars and Cheats, and Legends and Killers) are going for 400 points a pop.

OK, the DLC is a solid deal, especially if you've been meaning to pick any (or all) of it up. That said, if you end up missing out on the deal today then you may want to just head over to Amazon and pick up the <a href=http://www.amazon.com/Dead-Redemption-Game-microsoft-xbox-360/dp/B005N4HBE6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1325195967&sr=8-1>Game of the Year Edition of the title, which comes with all the DLC included.

Wait, I'm in Qatar (on holiday, go figure) does that mean I cannot get Undead Nightmares for only 800 points? Is this deal ONLY for North America?

Microsoft's deals are so bad compared to Steam >.<

I like my Xbox, but the price of games for consoles is getting (even more) stupid.
Lol I was just going to put that out... Its sad how a sale on one game's DLC is like a x mas miracle for 360 gamers. I'm not trying to flame or anything, I am a 360 gamer... and its things like this that make me wish I'd paid more attention to steam's holiday sales =(

Well, my guess is that you could take a look on Xbox Live and see if it costs 1600 or 800 :)

HEre is the thing, I don't have gold-membership.

I do however have a 48 hour token for Gold-membership, for me to check would mean blowing that 48-hour pass when I really don't have time to use it. I'll be back in the UK in 3 days. I'd REALLY jsut like some consistency from Microsoft on their deals rather than jsut rewarding Canadians/Americans/(Mexicans).

I agree. F'r instance Red Dead Redemption is a 2010 title, going (granted, with DLC) for 29.99. Also released to critical acclaim in 2010: Mass Effect 2 (Just picked it up in Steam for 4.99), Bioshock 2 (Available for 9.99), Sins of a Solar Empire: Trinity (13.99), and Civ 5 Game of the Year Edition (with all available at release DLC) for 25 bucks. Mind you, the last three were part of the general X-mas sale; I didn't bother to research what they were when they were the daily offer.

And the publishers would not be involved if they weren't making money. I personally have nickeled and dimed myself to the tune of several hundred dollars on Steam for games i will probably never play more than once, simply because they were cheap enough that I couldn't afford to pass the offers up!

I don't mean to lay it on consoles, but it's simple economics. As titles pass the 60 dollar mark (must-have and not must-have alike), developers will be pushed out of the market, and competition will suffer. Meanwhile, the PC market, once thought dead, flourishes. I don't think one format is better than the other, but the bang for buck factor weighs heavily in PC's favor. And people realize that, even if developers don't.

All that aside, good for XBLA for what is (hopefully) a first baby step.

Personally I wouldn't compare Steam to XBLA.

While Steam has some great sales in terms of everything being on sale by 50% off, there are some annoyances there. Things like Bastion (while great) had daily bonus discounts 4 times. Portals had 3 of them. And the last day of the Steam sale was "Encore Day". So it was stuff that had already been on sale before. The repetition felt lame.

Having said that, I do think XBLA should mimic something like the 50% off everything sale for the two weeks surrounding christmas.

As for the people that defend XBLA saying it shouldn't be compared Steam. How about comparing it to previous years sales. The previous two holiday sales were better than most of what was offered this year.
