Soul Calibur 5 Crotch Ad Debunked As Fake

The new Soul Calibur V ad showcasing Voldo's nutty goodness is fake, but the one with Ivy's breasts is still real (though who knows if those items are fake or not).

Namco Bandai recently managed to stir up a little bit of controversy (and a lot of featured Voldo's codpiece in all it's painful glory; it turns out that this ad was actually fake.

Joystiq has figured out that the image of Voldo actually comes from a screenshot for Soul Calibur IV, which was released in 2007. Both shots are shown here, and you can see that they're identical.

Now that you've spent more time checking out Voldo's junk than you're probably comfortable
admitting to, let's be honest about something: The fake ad is a damn convincing forgery. The Soul Calibur games have always been over the top when it comes to characters' sexual designs, but the fact that nobody was really all that surprised by ads like these shows just how ridiculous things have gotten with the series.

Not many sane gays would go for the Mummy-like Voldo, whom is about 90% less human (and male) than the cleavage of the previous ad.

Oh man, I'd totally give Namco props for going with this ad. Just picture it, billboards in the middle of areas which receive heavy pedestrian traffic. I'm sure the crowds would actually stop and stare, jaws hanging open.

I wouldn't call it "gay" but Id have questions for any of my friends who bought a box with a gigantic codpiece loaded with unmentionables on the front.

Soul Caliber is kinda all about boobs fighting... I mean women with GIGANTIC boobs fighting. It would have been an odd path to take the series.I think whoever did this had a great eye for satire. Well done, golf clap.

I agree, but I still think its a good piece of satire. I dont understand why they would use Soul Caliber because that game has always been about Breasts and spandex moneyshots. They should have picked a newer game that was just getting onto the market.

Weirdly enough, I think Soul Calibur and King of Fighters have both passed DOA in terms of the Jell-O jiggle factor.

I think Rumble Roses was more subtle with it's "assets" then Soul Calibur has been lately.
