Before you bust out the flamethrowers, hear me out. America gets a lot of stick, and I'll be the first to admit that most of it's justified to some degree; it seems like most of our shows are just reality shows about borderline-retarded celebrities who have more money than Jesus but couldn't find their ass with both hands and a flashlight (torch, whatever). Also, *koff koff scientologists koff kaaaaffff* But I want to hear what people like about us, because let's be honest, we're not all bad. That goes for other Americans too; what do you like about living here? I know it's hard to muster any enthusiasm for this place, but there's gotta be something you like about it. So how 'bout it?

Also, please, no political discussions. Seriously, I'm on bended knee here; I wanna try to keep this discussion friendly if at all possible, and whenever the discussion turns to politics, it never ends well. Thanks!

Edit: Might as well get the ball rolling. I like the fact that America's such a mishmash of cultures; it's awesome that you can find so many different backgrounds and traditions here, and we manage to (mostly) coexist peacefully despite our differences. It's sort of a tragedy that that diversity came at the expense of so much Native American culture, but at least there are still people around who are trying to keep it alive.

Some of the shows they bang out. Lost. South park. Futurama etc
I second that. Some good music as well.

I also like how they have suddenly become progressively more liberal on the marijuana laws in some states than over here even though we have a "socialist" government... Actually, on second thoughts; I resent that.

Hmmmm...
well, I suppose your (well, some Americans) innovation when it comes to weaponry.
I mean... Gyrojet weaponry... *drools* what is not to like? (aside from the fact that it is an implement of war and killing.)

The food, the people are actually very nice mostly, the weather and the sights. That's all I've got right now, Im pretty sure there are many other pleasent things about America. Sorry they are pretty much tourist answers but every time I've been there I noticed these the most.

Their movie culture has its moments. The way they seem to care for the rest of the world is heartwarming too. It doesn't really work, sure but its a nice thought.

Generalizing abit here sure.

There are no laws against what I can and cannot say.

Not that I'm going to go around telling black people they're inferior, because I don't think that.
But if I wanted to?
I fucking could.

I can tell anyone to fuck off, anytime.

It's beautiful.
The beauties of "democracy".
The people! They're all so strangely happy. When they hear my accent, they go nuts too.
I love it!

comics, cartoons, animation studios some movies some bands and some other things.

edit: sad thing is some things America claims as their own, like apple pie, are not theirs. They are mostly european. But then again America is like europes spoiled basterdchild in a way.

I have a love-hate relationship with American culture. Some of it I love beyond anything else in the world, some of it I find to be within the lowest depths humanity has sunk to.

There are some nice and wise people.

They do valuable scientific research.

Where all have you been in the US, if I may ask?
