Alright, so I'm cleaning house this week. I just finished a majority of the anime from the spring season and will be writing reviews while they're fresh in my mind. I've got a review for No Game No Life and maybe even Nanana's Buried Treasure if I can ever finish it.
Diamidaler, which is what I shall refer to this anime as of now, is based of a manga series of the same name. Written by Asaki Nakama. Besides this anime adaption, the manga has received zero attention in the west. So sadly, no chapters are available to read if you're interested. Anyway, let's get started.
Story
Our story follows pervert, Kōichi Madanbashi, known as his school's pervert, he has no skills besides groping women and flipping their skirts up. One day he comes across a particular... bountiful girl and gropes her breasts. This girl is Kyōko Sonan. Pilot of the robot Daimidaler and our only defense against the Penguin Empire. A race of aliens trying to take over the earth. Upon groping groping Kyoko, Koichi learns he has high Hi-Ero particles. Which let him power up Daimidaler to max power. Koichi is recruited into the ranks of Prince, the main fighting force against the Empire. So, if you can't tell the story is trying very hard to follow the success of Kill La Kill, by trying to merge fan-service into the story. It sounds good in practice, but falls apart once I see Koichi grope Kyoko's tits for the twentieth time. It just becomes an excuse to see boobs. The story overall is pretty shitty, nothing really interesting just wacky.
Characters
Joining Kyoko and Koichi we have some other characters, all are walking stereotypes meant to satisfy fetishes or act as a comedy rotine. We have the perverted leader of Prince and three scientist to satify the fetishes. One dresses like a playboy bunny, one as a mature woman, and another as a loli. The penguin empire has Likantz Seaberry, who is kinda a mix between a tsundere and standard high school girl. Other than that we have a few named Penguins who mostly act as comedy relief. We do get two new protagonist around episode seven, a boy and girl who are deeply in love with each other. I won't say anything else to prevent spoilers. Overall, I found myself not really caring for these characters. Koichi is a total asshole, even when he isn't groping women and everyone else is flat as a board. The protagonist introduced later are at least likeable and their romance is adorable. Other than that they all suck.
Art
These guys made Highschool DxD, you ever watch that? Expect jiggly boobs with women who get about ten times more work than male characters. Don't watch this censored either... well you shouldn't watch it to begin with, but you'll go blind if you do.
Comedy, Action.
The comedy starts off kinda alright. The penguins are pretty funny at first, with their tails looking like erect penises. But the fun quickly wears off and I find myself pity laughing later on. Other than that, the comedy sucks. The penguins occasionally make me laugh just because of their antics, but nothing else stands out.
Sucks, nothing else to say. They somehow made giant robots punching each other boring.
Overall
Do not watch this unless you are a massive fan of fan-service or really goofy comedy. Others will be turned away by the obsessive fan-service, and unlike Sekirei, Highschool DxD, and Freezing they lack a good enough story to make up for the fan-service. I was a big fan of this show the first three episodes, but then it got old. The jokes, the groping, the front tails. I just wanted it to end. So, I'm gonna give this one a pass for nearly everyone.
