In recent times we've been lacking games based on the concept of collection. Of items, not monsters. The odd game comes out based around it but it's a void that few developers are willing to fill. So, when I heard of A Hat in Time I immediatelysaid that it sounds fucking dumb and the devs should go kill themselves headed over to the Kickstarter that you can find here! The basic premise for the game is that some evil girl with a mustache called Mustache Girl wants to use time for evil, so it's up to you the player (playing as HAT KID!) to stop her evil ways!
Yes that's a girl with a mustache. And one with a top hat. And some guy in the mafia.
If you haven't gathered yet the game looks like silly beautiful fun. It's all about collecting and there's lots of collecting to be done. Orbs, pins, hats, abilities, weapons, this game has it all. Thanks to Kickstarter funding there's going to be seven chapters in total (the last 3 of which will be decided by you! the backers (if you back which you should you scumbags)), each with several acts. But that's not it! More funding will give MORE EXTRAS. New game plus, traditional Rare game voice acting, a new hub world, and a song for one of the levels composed by none other than GRANT MOTHERFUCKING KIRKHOPE.
TWO HOURS OF PURE SILLY WONDERFUL BLISS
On top of all this, the game is already planned to have online and local Co-op, and if we get really lucky, possibly released on consoles down the line. With a new, unique co-op character!
Please, I beg you, if you have any interest in platformers whatsoever, at the very least give this game a look. It looks so fresh, so pretty, so fun, and for fuck's sake we need to get the word out to major developers that PEOPLE WANT THESE KIND OF GAMES. Because we do. Or I do. And that's all that matters.
