Kind of sad to think I have zero interest in any of the "Big 3" consoles but am damned tempted to buy a 3DS XL after seeing this. Maybe Nintendo should have the 3DS team take over the handling of the Wii U as they seem to know their ass from a hole in the ground.

OH BOY, MAYBE WE WILL GET THE X ITEM FIRST THIS TIME!

Sorry for copying yahtzee but i seriously cannot see the appeal of a LoZelda game that is trying to cash in on even more nostalgia instead of pushing the series somewhere interesting or new.
NOPE, Graphics resembling the style of a SNES game. Oh and a completly inconsequential mechanic about Link turning into a painting for no adequately explained reason, which even if it does get explained, it doesn't make it any less random and desperate (and stupid). And a HUGE TWIST GUYS A HUGE TWIST! I can't fucking wait for the team to pull something completly underwhelming because them taking risks with the thin ass plot they have would surerly make their heads explode!
Again, thanks nintendo for showing us how massively stagnant your series have gotten.

Why does the FPS matter so much to people?

The eye can only see about 25 different pictures per second anyway.
You've done it now, it's too late to turn back >.>. Prepare for zealous quotes and maybe even a flame-war on the whole 60 FPS shtick.
But to say that the eye can only see about 25 different pictures per second is wrong, just plain wrong. If that was the case how an I see the diference between 30 FPS and 60 FPS?

Either way I really doubt Nintendo will ever "shock" anyone considering how safe they play with their games. The only shock they ever gave was Metroid Other M
I've seen people claim they can see a difference at 120 fps when they only have a 60 hertz monitor. I've had people claim they can see differences at 240fps when they have a 240 hertz monitor that is putting up black frames for 120 of those frames to clear the pixels.

There is a couple of things you're actually seeing. When you have a frame rate change you'll see it as a slow down of game time. At the higher frame rates the change in frame rate has a smaller effect on that time change. Changes in the persevered rate of time are more annoying then the frame rate. This is a result of the Game Logic and Game Draw Loops being tied together. A slowdown in one will slow down the other.

However, you don't really see very fast with your eyes. So the first post is technically correct. However, what you see is more like an exposure then what is considered a frame. Multiple frames shown in the same exposure will help you see more fluid movement since that's closer to how the eye sees, but the benefit tops out at 30 to 60 frames. Which also happens to be as fast as your night vision can sample.

Maybe I'm wrong, but...*sigh* these games are getting too repetitive. Too obvious. I mean those CDI games were you played as Zelda, not Link or Link Jr. or Link 2.0 or Past/Present/Future Link, weren't great games. Or even good or playable games. But they at least tried for something new. Why not make a new version of Zelda, were you are in fact, Zelda and you have to save Link. Hell, the game can begin you're Link saving Zelda from the monster du'jour and Zelda is freed and Link is trapped. Boom! Something new!

The game is ugly as sin, not really a technical advancement when you sacrifice graphics for this...It looks ugly to me.
Woo someone that agrees! The first time I saw this game I was confused that everyone loved the graphics. I don't know but it just looks like claymation or plastic or something, and not in a good way. Sprites in the original are fantistic, but this 3d graphics is just kind of meh. After spirit tracks and skyward sword I am skeptical of all future zelda games.

you are SO wrong. They eye can see UNLIMITED pictures per second. Eyes are not digital tools that can only address 0s and 1s. Your eye can even see 1.000.000.000.000.000.000 pictures per second, and even more than that.

If the eye can't see more than 25 frames per second, then explain me why there are 100hz and 200hz tvs ?
You are plain wrong, you don't even know what you are talking about.

I would be on board with this. Hell, if they could put together a new entry in the franchise that just drew heavily on the old Valiant comics I would be all over that. There's your starting point Nintendo, now get to work.

God I miss being able to get excited about Nintendo's games. :(

New Zelda game will shock fans... by being essentially the same as all the other Zelda games, using the same 'gather items to progress' mechanic and featuring all new system that was used the the original...

[small][small][small]I will still get it though! :/[/small][/small][/small]

it does make a difference, hmm here look at this
http://www.100fps.com/how_many_frames_can_humans_see.htm

its an old page but its still talking about the same things that affect our vision today, its all to do with how our eyes work and the affects of blurring vs sharp edges and stuff.

I'm very excited for this...as long as I don't have to move with the stylus...

I liked Phantom Hourglass a lot, but that was one thing that REALLY annoyed me after a while...

Why would you waste 60 FPS for a Zelda game when you could pimp the graphics even more? It is not like they will be adding some high octane action sequence between hours of cutting grass for money.

The only way I can see this being a shock is either they bring a character from the other game into it thanks to that new timeline (the return of Groose?) or they revealed that other world to be something shocking (Twlight realm?).

Now they're not even trying to hide the fact that they've run out of ideas 20 years ago, and are remaking the same damn games over and over again.

But no matter what I say, we're talking about a Nintendo product, so it's going to be a guarantee that it will move several million copies on launch week.

Proof? It's a load of nonsense lol. And low framerates strain the eyes. In the olden days framerates on projectors would be artificially raised to reduce stress on the eyes.

Well, at least it's one more reason to use my 3DS.
It'd be nice to have a reason that ISN'T Mario Zelda Pokemon...but that's Nintendo for you.

I didn't realise that you all felt so strongly about this.

Even if it does matter I do not understand why it's a selling point

A game on the 3ds is not going to impress graphily anyway
