There's an old racing game out there called Street Legal Racing: Redline. It's a game that was heavily underrated at release, but which now has dozens of active modding communities for it that span the globe. One of these communities, GOM-TEAM, is trying to get the source code released to them, for the purpose of not only improving the quality of their mods, but also for potentially fixing whatever bugs the game still has.

SLRR is a game that has so much unrealised potential it's ridiculous; Youtube videos show high-quality addon cars, engines and parts, with people releasing complete tracks, complete cities, even addon packs that take up more room than the game itself, and it's got one of the best damage engines I've seen, rivalling that of many modern AAA games and the best part is, it's so old and so unknown you can easily find it online.

This game is a veritable cult classic, and everyone I've shown it to has liked it. If you play racing games, and maybe even if you don't but you're looking for something different, then go to the GOM-TEAM site and find everything you need for the game, give it a go and if you like it, think about coming back here and signing the petition near the end of this post. For those who do play it, but don't know about the petition, then the link is at the end of this post. It's five minutes of your time, for what could be a game that you could be playing for the next five years.

They only need five thousand signatures. If even a fraction of the Escapist community gets involved, then the petition will meet its target in no time at all. And folks, if you do decided to sign and the petition is shown as having met its target, sign it anyway if you still can, and help get the message through that there are a lot of people who want this to happen.

Don't mean to bump this, but I signed the petition.

For SLRR to die would be a sad waste.
