Right, I have in my house a dead PS3. I intend to trade it in at the local retail store for a newer Slim PS3 (Don't tell them its dead! ;P), and failing that I intend to get a new one anyways. (I know I said I was giving it all up a while back... but I also intend to use it with less frequency now). The problem is is that there is still a game disk within the PS3 that I can't extract! Does anyone know how to get at it?

Also, does anyone have any idea how I could extract the data within the PS3 hardrive as well? I have a lot of games on it that I don't want to have to have to re-download >_<

Thanks for any help anyone can offer me :D

There should be a tiny hole beneath the disc tray, If you have something long and thin like a quitar string that should press all the way to the eject button and eject the disc tray.

well since you can't turn the ps3 in I would just pry it open, take the disc out,and dispose of the ps-corpse.there was a lovely thread a few days ago about a guy giving his xbox360 a viking funeral,I'd go with that.

You have broken the PS3 breaking vow of silence! we can't let the 360 fanboys know that the PS3 can break!

OT- if it won't come on at all, then:

as for the hard drive, not sure, the data i probably encrypted to keep you from getting it off the HDD. But you won't lose your movies/ games you downloaded, just have to redownload them.
