A western RPG set in feudal Japan? Does one exist?

I've been playing a lot of Shogun 2 lately and I got to thinking that I don't think I've seen any western style RPGs set in feudal Japan, perhaps involving samurai. I would be interested in giving one a shot if one exists.
The closest I can think of was playing Throne of Darkness, but that was really more of an action game. I know there are a bunch of JRPGs and I have played a few of them. I wonder why it has never been approached. It seems like it'd have a lot of awesome material to draw upon. Just not something western developers feel would work or gamers wouldn't be interested in?

I looked those up, yeah. It is too bad it is not something that would be attempted nowadays. I think it'd be a badass setting for an RPG.

Jade Empire by Bioware is set in pan-asian mythical land...that's a pretty good game.

Howzabout Jade Empire? It's not set in Japan itself, more of a pastiche of Japan and China, but it has the same visual theme/setting. Plus, Bioware.

that would be awesome a good mix of eastern and western story telling. though i think it would be better in sand box format.

The Way of the Samurai and Jade Empire are about the best you'll get, I think, sadly. Then again, there's also lands like Rokugan in Pen and Paper RPG Dungeons and Dragons' Forgotten Realms setting if you want to get some friends together go go all "Seven Samurai" on a town.

Also, Throne of Darkness was an amazing Diablo clone. I still have my copy, but lost my CD key.

Jade Empire. It's probably my least favorite BioWare game, but it's still pretty good. It does get really good towards the end, and John Cleese makes a memorable appearance.

I have been attempting to familiarise my self fulling with scrip modding for Mount and Blade.

I hope to create an expansive Mod for With Fire and Sword which took you from about 1400's to 1800's. Effectively the rise of the Samurai to the age of gunpowder. Totally original map for Clans I'll just steal shoguns. One major thing is reforming both recruitment and fucking siege battles. No more kill zones with a single latter or even a few, if you bring siege equipment the walls fall down everywhere and both defence and attack must be co-ordinated. Also money making and provincial development will be a lot more important than finding a few high level bandits and trade skills. Supply of troops will require you to build educational buildings and then training facilities... or you can drum up some levied poor bastards. Given adequate training in facilities you will be able to transfer high end levys to lightly experienced samurai class troops.

Also the ai needs a good fucking work over. It needs to be more aggressive but equally more strategic. No raids on what you plan to conquer, only when there is a stalemate.

Sorry I forgot the topic and "ranted" >.>

How about that Diablo 2 clone? Something Throne, I think...
Throne of Darkness. Ha, I was looking at my old PC games collection and there it was. Too bad I have the french version, don't really feel like installing it because of that.
