Hello again, another rant

https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/world/da-says-couple-accused-of-drugging-and-raping-up-to-1000-women-did-no-such-thing?ex-da-made-it-all-up/ar-BBZHmux?ocid=spartanntp

Apparently, the old DA manufactured evidence of 100s of photos to get a conviction of rape against a couple. I haven't actually heard any evidence of the actual manufacturing, but the case is already dropped so it doesn't matter what I think. Thoughts?

My immediate thought is I'm going to need more than your word that the evidence was manufactured

If the evidence is called into question, aren't you going on the DA's word that it's true in the first place?

The whole thing sounds suspicious. Lets say the DA did falsify evidence...why?! What did the dude fuck his sister and never called back? Do you know how much you have to piss off a DA to get an entire department to agree to manufacture evidence? The article says it was for a reelection campaign and that's some balls. I mean this has opened the DA's office to life-long lawsuits and hundreds of millions of dollars worth of damages.

The claim is that the case is manufactured; the evidence itself has merely been misrepresented.

This couple were apparently picking up women for threesomes. Several of these women made a complaint against the couple. The police went in, found a load of kinky stuff and the original DA decided to oversell the case and misrepresent some of that evidence. The original DA claimed that photos, texts etc. from the couple's phone demonstrate sexual abuse of the women. The later DA says there isn't a single act of abuse on the photos, nor significant support of abuse from any other evidence.

That several women have made complaints is a significant issue: that's not negligible and the couple haven't necessarily done nothing wrong. Just that the case is far weaker than the original DA made out, and potentially too weak to pursue.
