While I would like pirates to receive their rightful punishments, this is not the way to do so. But I seriously doubt this will actually be implemented.
Just remember, you don't even have to have pirated anything. Just accused. Thrice.
Doesn't that go against "Innocent until proven guilty"?

I don't see much of a problem, since most people are getting worked up since they themselves pirate. It's as simple as; If you have nothing to be guilty of, why worry? If you don't pirate, and don't have anything that could consider you a pirate, why care? The worst I have on my computer is probably porn...
They can send you to prison and confiscate your computer, cut off your internet (forever), and confiscate your mp3-compatible devices just because they accused you thrice.

Indeed it does.

Keep in mind, not every country has this...

Did anyone else notice it's dated in 2007? That was fucking 2 years ago and I really don't think this will make it. Please give me something to really worry about like global warming or losing the game. XD For the lulz
Two years ago means it's coming sooner. You know how long the government takes to get anything done.
And the likely hood of this passing is slim at best. There are too many groups the would fight this and if it did there would be a global up rising so massive they would have to over turn it. If I'm wrong, which I doubt, I'll be the first to admit to it then join the up rising.

A. There's WAY more important shit to be worried about other than some fucking kid "stealing" music.

B. Those fucking musicians have enough money, and they'll continue to make FUCKLOADS of money even if people illegally download. This is a waste of time, money, resources and pretty much EVERYTHING; all because a musician is going to have to wait another 4 months before buying another luxury car.
It's not about the musicians. It's about the greedy corporations.
They own the musicians, so, same thing (kinda). Either way some jackass is going to be profiting from this.
I think I smell a hint of North Korea...

When I think about it, this is an anarchist's wet dream.

Even though I don't think this will happen, I hope it does. Then I'll have a reason to kick somebody's ass.

When the riots start... If this passes, I'll be hopping a ride to Chuchill, Manitoba.

With a Television and a Dreamcast.

No need for the internet with those...

I wonder how many politicians would have their shit seized and searched. They will strike this thing down before it goes anywhere in the legislation.

I'm also very happy I own either a laptop nor a MP3 player. The government can kiss my ass. Thanks dems for electing this baffoon.

They could take away your Dreamcast, saying you pirated games for it.

I'm forgetting the Latin term, but the US Constitution guarantees, if I remember correctly, that you shall not be persecuted for an action that was outlawed after you committed it. (Of course, piracy is illegal already, but still...) Someone remind me of the Latin term please?
Ex Post Facto I believe.

Time to start a revolution, comrades!

But no, seriously. That's some fucked up shit, although hardly new - I think I've heard about this ACTA thing a while ago.

This reminds me of the Spanish Inquisition. Except I think it's worse, it's one thing if you try to kill a bunch of people to take their stuff, but it's a whole lot worse if you try to screw the world over to take people's money.
At least we can somewhat expect ACTA... And nobody expects Spanish Inquisition.
We didn't expect it till now. Or I didn't anyway.

I was so happy until I saw that Canada had been invited to join. Shit, if this starts to pick up momentum I'll definitely have to increase the amount I download before the curtain comes down.

Keep in mind, this is global. All over the world. There's nowhere you can go.

If the US signs it, free speech protections won't apply: the Constitution states that treaties are to be treated as the supreme law of the land. If we sign a treaty that circumvents a constitutional protection, we lost that protection.

According to one of those videos the policy was due to come into force at the end of last year?
I wonder how many people will still blame Obama?

And when has anarchy worked outside of fiction? By the way, the point of anarchy is the rejection of assembly and all forms of government.
