A bunch of games got taken off digital series that have the Marvel License by Activison
Its similar to how Capcom is losing the license for fighting games.

I really wanted a X-men Legends 1 and 2 HD collection. Those are my favorite Marvel games. Lego Marvel is cool but you don't get to upgrade the powers.

I also hope that EA doesn't get the Marvel License because Disney has already sold them the Star Wars License for video games and Disney owns marvel. EA also didn't mange the Marvel Fighting game License well with rise of the Imperfects and a canceled fighting game.

According to IGN [http://au.ign.com/articles/2014/01/02/marvel-titles-no-longer-available-digitally] the licenses just expired, who they'll award them to remains unknown but I guess with EA getting Star Wars you may not be far off the mark.

I would hold off on Marvel Heroes until they prove they plan to actually make it a fun game. While it is fun to have every character in the marvel universe on the table as a playable character - the story sucks, the cutscenes/voiceacting suck, loot is a big boring grind, the map layouts are static yet your account doesn't retain them making you have to re-explore, the map layouts are drab and samey, inventory management is more tedious than Mass EFfect 1 by far, the UI sucks and often blocks chat... in a multiplayer game. I am sure I am forgetting something. But hey, you can buy 20 characters for only $129.00 as a bundle or $5-$15 a piece and then spend it again on the costume you want YAY!

Their dev team is spending most of their time pumping out more content to buy at insane prices than actually focusing on fixing the problems within the game that make it a boring grindfest with horrible UI. I love the concept of the game and have given them $60 to help them get it going - but apparently my $60 was spent on making new characters to sell and not improving the game. I won't be going back until they start actually making the game fun or at least less tedious and annoying.

OT: I see this as a good thing. Whoever gets the new contract will probably have to not use comic characters as a quick buck. Marvel will probably add something new to the contract that they must approve of the quality of the game before it is released or something. Look at how Arkham series did and how well the Marvel movies are doing. This is a great time for marvel to get "comic book" games out of the shovelware closet.

Ya it's probably headed for EA, licences this big aren't just left to expire(because that is a major profit hit) unless someone gets a better deal elsewhere and they need a way out of the previous contract.

I've played that since BETA and its not the same as X-men Legends. The story isn't that new or good. King Pin's lawyer sues shield for the return of the a ancient tablet. Who wrote that. From My understanding Shield is a secret organization.

I think on average Activison games were alright, only a few were really good or really bad. SEGA on the other hand really needed a quality assurance clause in their contract.

I disagree with you on the loot, the way it works makes getting interesting new loot that gives you powers or upgrades your powers a fun experience. It's probably the best game for making you go "cool, purple drop, wonder what it does?" because it's not as simple as "has bigger number than current therefore better" due to the power affixes etc.

Also, most environments do randomise, but they do so on an irregular basis (daily I think).

As for inventory management, I'm not sure what you want from an inventory system, but this is pretty much the standard for PC inventory systems. They all work like this.

And you can have every hero for free, and it's not exactly difficult to get the ones you want, the only things that you can't get for free are minor cosmetic items and stash space.

Your criticisms basically make evident your lack of knowledge.

It's not the same as, it puts more focus on loot as a part of character building not just the power trees, but it's basically as close as you'd get on a PC anyway given that the control paradigm of basic + hotbar works better with a mouse and keyboard than the XML/MUA controls would.

Also SHIELD are no more secret than any other intelligence agency. I mean the NSA is pretty secretive but they've still got a wikipedia page, people know they exist and what they're about. And having the law in his pocket is pretty much Kingpin's thing.

Good luck suing the NSA and getting your stuff back.
