Hello friends,

So Recently WB event reveal Gotham knights and suicide squad by WB montreal and rocksteady themselves. Arkham games are only third person action games not involved guns i really liked and they butchered it for another RPG and gaas.

many of non FPS games I really enjoyed in past are gone.

Max payne no longer exist, Splinter cell was ruined and now dead, Mafia now become GTA although im looking forward to Remake but it wont be as good as original, disappointed by RE2 remake after brilliant RE7, Jedi fallen order was ok for first playthrough but it dragged and one and done. Hitman is only third person left that is good.

although enjoyed desperados 3 the best stealth game since chaos theory and its commandos successor but they are very far and few but upcoming games. none of non FPS games apart from Mafia remake and Hitman 3 looks worthy.

only FPS or FP prespective games looks great in future like Cyberpunk, Deathloop, RE village, Shadow warrior 3, STALKER 2, IGI origins, XIII, Dying light 2 and others.

I was so looking forward to WB montreal Batman since its been 5 years and was hoping Batman get reboot treatmant in gaming like The Batman movie coming out in 2021. guess we cant have nice things. corporate greed kill.

what you think? lets discuss

I think I've played like four first-person shooters in the last three years. Find them too robotic, like controlling a tripod with a gun attached.

Careful this doesn't become you in five years.

I don't play games much anymore, but when I do it's anything between platformers, puzzle games, action-adventure, adventure, action, survival horror, RPG, racing, shooter, stealth... Most of my games over the last two years were on the Switch, with PC second and PS4 almost non-existent in third place. I wanna get Streets of Rage 4, as I enjoyed SR2, but I'm waiting for a much bigger discount. Having only one genre would make me play significantly less than I already do.

When have you ever shown any other genre in a positive light? You always talk about how you only like manly fps games that feature no woman, no regenerating health, no complex rpg mechanics because thinking is hard.

The fact you are not interested in upcoming super hero games isnt surprising. Of all the years on escapist i dont recall you ever ever praising the previous Arkham games and frankly never expected you to.

So you are free to enjoy your mindless point and click games my dude.

I, for one, am glad he's managed to find a way to get this burden off his hairy chest by sharing it with us all. It's a difficult hobby to indulge in, quite oppressive some might say, truly a warrior's path some might say. Perhaps consider it part of a healing process for the many traumas of videogame addiction, though we haven't even reached the first step yet, but progress is progress nonetheless. If anyone else has anything they want to get off their minds, then what better place than here, what better time than now?
To start with one of mine own, what do you do if you badly need to poo but are waiting for a delivery or a plumber? This dilemma is cause of great concerns and anxieties.

my friend, Deus Ex and System shock are FPS/RPG and 2 of greatest games ever made.
its how you implement RPG mechanics.

nowadays developers are forcing RPG elements to games that doesnot need it, having leveling system and grinding is anything but thinking.

and yes i praise Arkham asylum and I like arkham games. new superhero games looks awful.

How does quality of gameplay have anything to do with camera perspective? The old Hitmans allowed you to switch between both cameras on the fly with a button press and guess what? They were the same games regardless of what camera you used.

Why were the unknown and unannounced WB games the "saving grace" of 3rd-person games?

Why are you looking forward to Cyberpunk when CDPR has yet to prove they can develop enjoyable gameplay and the game currently looks like a poor-mans immersive sim (CDPR even has taken out abilities previously shown because they don't know how to make immersive sims)? The thing Cyberpunk MAY do extremely well is the world reflecting your actions/decisions, which has nothing to do with the camera. But Witcher 3 didn't even do that well so I'm not holding my breath. Why are you looking forward to the XIII remake? Unless they completely retool the game, it's going to be a generic FPS (like the demo I played was like 10 years ago or whatever), the only interesting thing about it was the artstyle.

A couple of the top guys from Arkane left the studio to make their own studio and their 1st game, Weird West, is... wait for it... still waiting?... here it comes... right now... It's 3rd-person o_O

If anyone else has anything they want to get off their minds, then what better place than here, what better time than now?

Shadow Warrior 3 looks dope. Big studios are lost, they go for mass appeal and get bland results. AA games is where it's at.

There were at least two sales with SOR4 at the price of $19.99. Once on PS4/Switch, and twice on Steam. It's $24.99 right now digital right now, while $30.00 physical. I've bought the game at least 6 times. Twice digital (PS4 and Switch), two copies for PS4 (one was a gift for my brother. It being the standard edition. I am waiting for UPS on the classic edition) and one for Switch (also waiting for UPS on the classic edition). For a price between $19-24, that is a good buy. The game has a lot of unlockable content and bonus features.

I recommend The TakeOver too.

In local news: Man states the obvious to audience that knew this already. More at 11.

I think the "What do you think? Discuss" is a thinly veiled way to actually give this thread any discussion value, and it's more of a soapbox for his opinions and nothing more. I mean more so than it's ever been.

But, I mean... Good for you B-Cell... I... guess...?

This. We're seeing a slooooow resurgence of AA games. And I love it.

There's a lot of really great AA experiences out there. I am legit just now finally playing "Enslaved: Odyssey to the West" after it's been languishing on my hard drive for years and years, and while it's got a lot of jank, it's also a REALLY fun experience.

I want more like it. Games with jank, but with clear heart behind it, people making the game they wanted to make, and not some corporate-approved, microtransaction-loaded Bland-Name-Product.

I played Enslaved, and enjoyed it for what it was, but I will most likely never touch it again. Love the story, though. The one thing I did not like was the platforming. Too automated and easier than Uncharted. I always got why Ninja Theory did it, but they could have done better. DmC sorta fixed that issue. Also, Enslaved was Last of Us before Last of Us became even a concept.

I mean....Kinda?

Sort of inverted since the fragile lady character is the one with the real power since she could just nuke poor Monkey's brains if she wanted. XD

But yeah, after enjoying OSP's Journey to the West summaries so much I decided to see how much of Enslaved lines up with the classic story. I suspect I'mma meet Pigsy in the next chapter, so so far that'll be 2 things that it really referenced hard outside of Monkey's equipment (the first was the Egg)

With some minor differences, give or take, but most of it is there. The game did not do well commercially, but critics loved it. Story wise, it's an A, but gameplay wise, it's a C. Enslaved is one of the better looking Unreal Engine 3 games to come out on 7th gen. The best looking one is Asura's Wrath.
