Even if its not a good movie I'll defend T3s ending

That shit was Dark.
That's really the only positive thing I can say about that movie. At least it's consistent. Otherwise, it's just a bad copycat, fanfic sequel.

TLDR - in the US at least the FBI and congress will eventually use their power to crack down on tool and content distributers to limit the blowback once it starts affect the rich and powerful. It's not quite "out of control" as it may seem on the surface.
It's all part of the plan...

I think the unique aspect of this is that you don't really NEED a content distributor for this. Like others have said, photoshop still requires a degree of skill, while AI software has a much lower barrier of entry.
Au contraire, in the future you can only use AI from closed source distributions. These will be online, copyright compliant, and will throw an error when the generated image is NSFW or illegal, and they'll report your IP to the authorities.

You could say "Well I'll just spinup my own server", except they'll just ban distribution either explicitly or by having corporations remove and hide search engine results on their own, not wanting to facilitate the production of illegal content. Then they'll remove existing datasets for privacy and copyright concerns.

The fact that it's open source is just a mild inconvenience, meth is open source, so are AR and AK rifles. People will gladly accept its ban after 24/7 nonstop media attacks.

Pretty much. I used to have to the paperwork for lawful intercept and copyright violations. For what its worth most MSO take the side of the user, only because of the cost and hassle. They lobbied a bill through congress maybe 10 years ago where in if you want to sue somebody for copyright you gotta sue them directly, you can't just file monetary claims against them and make MSOs contact them. That's why you heard about Nintendo suing distributors directly. Its not because they want to it's just illegal now to take them to claims or Hassle MSOs. Same with the FBI task forces.

That said CALEA works a little different, deepfakes especially for the use of blackmail, revenge porn and harrassment are felonies so MSOs do a kind of handleshake one time only (per request) for user data and it block them if its some crazy infrastructure thing. So what I think is gonna happen is an act of congress to align in detail deepfake applications and other AI tools for nefarious purposes as felonies & capital crimes. At that point theres no where in the US or EU you're safe and we actively block Russia. We use complex traffic analysis tools (now AI driven) to identify content type and location. Doesn't matter where you host and VPN don't actually mask your traffic, it just adds extra steps.
