The Power Rangers: they'd move similar to the ice climbers, except it would be all of them moving together, jumping around and
spouting "cool" catch phrases. Super Smash would be turing into the mega zord and stomping on everyone. Level would be their fortress.

I know you already have a Final Fantasy charecter, and it's VII as well, but I would personally love to see Nanaki (Red XIII) simply because he wouldn't have too much strength and his combat would rely on speed. You could use Cosmo Canyon (specifically the area where his father died, with it in the background).

Final Smash : A version of Howling Moon where he heals himself and any team mates fully, then dashes forward, seriously damaging and also stunning anyone he hits.

Also, how about someone from the Bloody Roar franchise? Like, Xion or ....I forgot the main characters name. He turned into a wolf? Stage : I liked the rooftop battle ground the most.

Final Smash: Transforming Combo. If you connected with the initial strike, you'd launch into a combo that ending with a transformation attack. You'd then play as the beast form until the next time you used the final smash.

Or, variation, you could just transform for a little bit, making your attacks devastatingly powerful and you not invincible, but unflinching and unlaunchable.

Joe Musashi from Shinobi 1-3. He's one of my favorite characters ever. You could use shuriken for low damage projectiles, and his sword and kicks for combos.
Stage : The hologram room from the final boss fight in SHinobi 3.

Final Smash : Either a ninjitsu (possibly his fire dragon one, it would just blast through the screen a few times with it being possible to dodge) or a "Power Block" with the same effect as my second Bloody Roar finisher suggestion.

Either the main charecter, the villain, or the creepy master martial artist from Shenmue. I loved that game so much. You couldn't really hate it completely, and if you did, you needed to swallow glass.
Stage : The main characters backyard, with the cherry tree viewable. You could bust through into the sparring room as well.

Final Smash : Depends on the charecter really, but just a one strike that instantly kills whoever it hits.

And.....either Rikimaru or Tatsumaru from Tenchu. You could use the grappling hook in combos. xD

Stage: The room where you fought Tatsumaru / whatever the creepy dude from the first games name was (I want to say Orochimaur xD) for the last time in Tenchu : Wrath of Heaven.

Or the top of Gohda castle.

Final Smash : Wrath of Heaven. With the same effects as the game. (including take 99% damage regardless if you hit or miss)

I'll leave you guys alone now.

The L block from Tetris. Can use the original Russian music from the NES version. His final move can be to fill in a tooth cavity and make his opponent disappear.

Multiwinians.
B-punch
B+across laser
B+up grenade
B+down change colour
Colours:
Green faster move
Red more damage dealt
Yellow faster attack
Blue less damage taken

Final smash:
either Spawn rampage or Tank (like one of the turrets (gatling/flame/rocket) but moveable)

Oh and the arena... I dont know somewhen in the Darwinia.

Ooooh. The protagonist from Shadow of the Colossus. Agro could make an appearance, and a Colossus (a random one each time) could be a special ability.

Sam Fisher from Splinter Cell, owing to how he brought the biggest change in stealth games since Metal Gear Solid 1. Possible level could be the lighthouse level from Chaos Theory

Kasumi from Dead or Alive, owing to how Dead or Alive, as a fighting game, ought to get a mention for its use of multi tiered levels and counters. DOATEC HQ for level. Would be an unlockable after finishing the game with Hayabusa maybe.

Nightmare from Soul Calibur, simply because Soul Calibur 1 on Dreamcast was one f the most critically acclaimed fighting games ever, and was a good reason to own a Dreamcast. Level could be Inferno's Plane.

Tommy Vercetti from Vice City, because in my opinion, that was when the GTA series was at it's peak of creativity. With DOwntown Vice City as the level (Basically a rendition of the bit where you did the jumps on the PCJ 600) With Claude from GTA 3 as an unlockable.

How bout some more Final Fantasy leads (unless Final Fantasy counts as one game)?

Squall - Balamb Garden
Zidane - Alexandria

Oh and no all star game without Fox McCloud inside the Great Fox.

Oh and some RTS heroes too. One from Starcraft, either . Can't remember the planet names, long time no play, but all cold be put in a generic faction base. Then there is sure to be an iconic Warcraft character too, in his hall in Orgrimmar or Arthas at the frozen throne.

Would probably go:

Kerrigan - Zerg Base
Thrall - Orgrimmar

And although I haven't played much Thief or Splinter Cell, I think both Garrett and Sam Fisher deserve a spot. Can't come up with a level though, guess it would be the city streets for Garrett.

Negative contributions don't count.
That's a matter of opinion. I prefer Splinter Cell.

Lich king- Ice crown citadel: a large multi-area level in which you slowly ascend through the icy tower until you reach Ice crown Pinnacle, a small open-air area dominated by the massive Frozen throne. Also from time to time a massive frost wyrm flies in and freezes an area over.

Pac-man- The first level: an interesting level in which you have to fight each other while avoiding the ghosts and collecting the power-ups in the four corners of the level.

Niko Bellic - in the middle of the street in Liberty city
B=Pistol
B+Slide=Drive a car into enemy
B+Down=Hooker. Place down a hooker anywhere. When an enemy bumps into one they're entranced for a moment as they say "Alright darling, feeling lonely"
B+Up=Set car bomb. You set it off with the same button

Final Smash=5 Stars. Five stars appear aross the top screen. Niko jumps off the map and take control of a single police car. If it catches one of the opponents the word BUSTED! flashes up on screen and the enemy is knocked off the map.

Got another.

Team Fortress 2 Engineer

B=Turn into a spy and stab, if you get behind it causes critical damage
B+Slide=You turn into a pryo and burn the enemy, causing damage afterwards
B+Up=Turn into a scout and double jump
B+Down=Put down sticky as Demoman. Set off with same buttons.

Final Smash=Sentry Coming Up! You get the chance to place down a sentry anywhere on the map. It will then do exactly what sentrys are made to do. Blow the living shit out of anything it can see. Enemy must hide till its out of ammo or destroy it when its attacking someone else. All this time the enegineer drops into the background, dancing.

Map=2fort

Commander Keen - Clearing with the Bacon & Beans Megarocket (or, whatever it's called)

Classic platforming at its very best.

EDIT: Tanya Adams - Base of the destroyed Statue of Liberty from RA2

The forum games forum is over here [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/index/362].

I prefer not to dilute my characters by putting them into a cartoony derivative work. Don't get me wrong - I enjoyed the Super Smash Brothers series - but if I were to just take every character I could find and stick em' in a monolithic SSB-like game, I think it would really diminish their overall appeal.

It's not so bad when you've a bunch of Nintendo characters and a handful of visitors, but when you pour everything into the cooking pot all you get is a overboiled mess. They lose all context, all you get is a shallow imitation.

Xan needs to be there to represent the origins of "headshot!" His final attack is obviously the redeemer. As for his stage... maybe Morpheus, but there were many good maps in the UT games.

The main cast Chrono Trigger....and a Nu. Everything begins and ends with Nu - there is no acception.

As for stages, how bout a time-travel stage (Not necessarily chrono trigger related)? Not one where you fight on a platform as you warp around, one where everything changes.

Oh, and Sauron as well as other Lotr characters.

These may have been mentioned, but all street fighter characters.

Edit: Removed "ahem..." to lower pretentiousness level.

Hmmm I'd put G-Man because he's just as iconic as freeman, and the black mesa level where you first see him in HL1
