I like them for their message. Also, their early stuff is horrible in comparison to their later work.

Funnily enough Im the opposite, RATMs early work was good everything that came after I hated as pretentious nonsense. Although I am too old for it cause its too loud

I meant Rise Against's early work is bad, whereas their later work is great. I'm not a fan of RATM, but I will listen to their work.

My taste in music is VASTLY different from most people on this forum, because I mostly listen to the popular "top 40" pop/r&b/dance/hip-hop type 'shit'. My specific tastes are also often quite girly. This is all enough to get you stoned to death on a gaming forum, to be honest. Anyway, i've never heard of Rise Against but i'm pretty sure if you guys like them, I wont.

I only listen to Rise Against occasionally, though, I would say for me I just like the music. I rarely care for a song's "Political Lyrics", which was probably why I didn't listen to Green Day much at first. My friend kept trying to get me to listen because of the political lyrics, so I didn't really care for it. I started hearing some of the songs later on and I liked the music, so I now I occasionally go for two Green Day songs for music.

No, in my opinion, their music is bad because it fits into a category that I hate, I think punk should be nasty, aggresive, angry music, not nice melodic music all packaged up and marketed to people who shop at Hot Topic.

People who ask questions on taste are even worse. Individuals have different opinions and reactions when it comes to different things. How do you justify enjoying the sound of something, and why should you?

I'll admit it, I listen to them, and I like their sound. the only mystery to me is how they got so popular, cause' they're nothing all too special. I guess one could say that they have "their own sound," but I don't really see it.

Incidentally, I'm going to see them in July with a couple of friends (along with Billy Talent and Rancid, two bands who are genuinely deserving of their reputation.) I see no shame in it

And for the record, I was a huge fan of Rage Against the Machine long before they came along.

don't they have a song in rock band 2? if so i like JUST that song. otherwise don't like em. Also don't like modern music much anyways outside of electronic and techno......most of my music on my ipod is either metal, musicals, or classical.....or stuff from the 20s-80s
