Amazon Reveals Battlefield 3 Book

A Battlefield 3 [http://www.amazon.com/Battlefield-3-Limited-Pc/dp/B002I0HJZO/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1311021262&sr=8-3] book written by former SAS soldier and currently BF3 consultant Andy McNab has turned up on Amazon.

Andy McNab is a name that will probably be familiar to readers with a taste for military fiction. It's the pseudonym of a former Special Air Services soldier and Gulf War veteran who took up the pen after retiring from the service, writing numerous novels like Heat [http://www.amazon.com/Bravo-Two-Zero-Harrowing-Special/dp/0440218802/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1311021362&sr=8-6] and, more recently, taking up an advisory role on Battlefield 3. But it turns out that his involvement with the Battlefield franchise goes a little beyond just helping out the mo-cap department.

A recently-discovered Amazon entry reveals an upcoming Battlefield 3 "Battlefield 3 Blog [http://www.amazon.com/Battlefield-3-Author-TBD/dp/1455508926] notes, it could be anything from a detailed retelling of the game's single-player campaign to a "making of" book, although McNab's involvement makes the former scenario far more likely.

The Battlefield 3 novel is currently scheduled for release on October 25 for $9.99 on Amazon or $8.99 in "Nook Book" format. Battlefield 3 launches on the same day for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

He's an advisor on the game?
Andy McNab + Battlefield 3 = amazing awesomething that I'm looking forwards to.

I'm ordering this, regardless of whether its fiction, game-guide or 'making of', I really enjoy reading McNab's work.

I'm not much for reading military novels, but my dad is. I let him know about the book and he seemed rather interested.

Well, at least they found a real advisor and not some made up guy like CoD's Wolfgang Hammersmith [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.256788-Real-Black-Ops-Author-Outed-as-a-Fraud].

"He shot the gun at the enemies."
"The enemies shot back"
*Bang bang*

Think I'll pass, thanks.

What's in it? Character sketches, technical drawings and developers notes would make a better book than comic/ graphic novel.

If it is a developers note type thing then I may buy it but I wouldn't get anything remotely similar for 5 years+.

Edit: then again with 400 pages it could be both?

I bet that reading that book will be better than BF3's single player mode.

I bet that anything at all will be better than BF3's single player mode. Except perhaps the single player mode of other BF games.
