Amazon Selling "Crystal White" Vitas Separately for $199

Amazon has come into possession of unbundled Crystal White Vitas that it's selling separately for $199.

When it comes to gaming hardware I'm a bit of a Model-T sort of guy; I like them dull, boring, and black. I'll also accept charcoal or a really dark gray, but even that's pushing it. In turn, I'll never quite understand the excitement many feel over alternatively colored consoles. I'll especially never get people who already own a piece of hardware and then up and buy a new one because the company decides to release a new version that's "crystal white."

I know there's a market for that sort of thing though, so here you go: the Crystal White Vita. Of course, the white Vita has actually been available for some time now via Ubisoft's <a href=http://www.amazon.com/Assassins-Creed-Liberation-PlayStation-Wi-Fi-Bundle/dp/B002I0JZOC/ref=sr_1_2?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1389272163&sr=1-2&keywords=vita+assassins+creed>Assassin's Creed: Liberation bundle. That being the case, it would seem that Amazon got its grubby little hands on a stock of individual units that it's now selling separately for $199. In other words, if you've fancied a white Vita but weren't too keen on Assassin's Creed, this is your moment to strike.

It's fair timing as well because, as we learned at CES, things are set to get pretty exciting for the Vita, and PlayStation in general, in the coming months. I'm, of course, referring to the recent announcement of <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/131089-PlayStation-Now-Streaming-Service-Unveiled-at-CES-2014>PlayStation Now which will give Vita owners access to a variety of PlayStation software from the PS1, PS2 and PS3, including games like The Last of Us. You honestly don't get much niftier than that.

Sony's put themselves in the bizarre position where even though the Vita still doesn't have enough games (seriously, it's even behind the Wii U now), it's almost worth a purchase just for its non-gaming features. After the PS Now announcement, I'm actually interested in a Vita, which was definitely not the case before.

The proof will be in the pudding. They promised the majority of the stuff that they have said will be coming to the vita and 4 for the ps3 and vita yet it never came to fruition.

Lets see if they come through with everything their promised this time.

If you fancy, you can import some zany Japanese games since the console is not region locked like some other handheld I know of.

So...yeah...no games at all...definitely not more than the Wii U...

I mean I'd love to connect it to the TV, but I have to wait for the PS Vita TV to possibly ever get a US localization, and if not I don't mind getting the Japanese one since I know Japanese.

People always say that "the Vita has no games" and just like how people say "the Wii U has no games" both are false. In the case of the PS Vita you can load your PS1 games you've already purchased onto there, remember Sony has the limit to how many systems they are installed on, and if you've never owned the game before then it's a plus. A lot of people also never had a PSP or a PS3 so the Classics and PSP games add more to the list that the Vita has.

I know, but it can possibly work if it's patched in because the PS4 controller is gonna be compatible with the PS Vita TV, and the PS4 controller has a built in touch screen on top.
Main I like having ways to record footage for each of my consoles, and if I were to get the Vita that one would be the only console I couldn't record. I have a capture board that I installed on my original DS, and I'm ordering a 3DS Capture Board soon enough.

True, but maybe they can finally get use of the Six-Axis that's built into the controllers. XD
