First of: do not read this if you intend to enjoy the movie American Psycho.
I just watched American Psycho and I have to say ... what the hell!?
Give me theories of what you think really happened in that movie. Here's mine:
All the murders, and that scene where Patrick Bateman gets chased by the cops, are a fantasy. He's very neurotic about pretty much everything (coasters on tables, his morning routine) so when he finds out Paul Allen has the most awesomest business card (of all things) he freaks out, but instead of actually doing something he makes up this fantasy in which he brutally murders Paul. The cop actually tells him he was with his friends that one night (confirmed by one of the friends). In Patricks mind the murders seem so real that he actually believes they're happening.
That scene with the cops really gave away the whole fantasy thing, mostly because he makes a cop car blow up with a few rounds from his pistol and a cash machine says "feed me the stray cat".
This would also explain all his sick drawings; he draws his fantasies.
Anyway, tell me what you think of the movie and what your theory is. Also, if you've read the book (which I haven't) I'd also like to hear what happens in it; what differs from the movie.
