So I was thinking about this for a while, should I get this game?

I don't really play horror games, but it is cheap and my computer surpasses all minimum requirements. So to anyone who has played it:

Is is worth it, is it fun, what is it like as a game? All comments are welcome.

This could also just be a general discussion about the game, for everyone who has it.

EDIT: I downloaded the demo but there was a glitch where the graphics were upside down (hard to explain). Is this a common problem on the full game? (quote me if you have the answer)

Well, if you want to spend the next few weeks sleeping with the lights on and clenching a shotgun then yes you should buy it.

YOU WILL POO YOUR PANTS.

That is all. If you don't wish to poo your pants, don't play.

I found it fun to be picking the plaster out of my hair having crapped myself so hard I shot out of my chair and become trapped in the ceiling. Amnesia will have an effect on you even after you stop playing. Just hearing the gatherers growl in the dark had me panicking. And afterwards, I transitioned over to deus ex and nearly had a heart attack while standing in the dark, just because I heard a funny noise.

Do you hear that? It is the sound of a thousand celestial denizens screaming "YES!" I would most resolutely suggest you obey them unless you want it to get unlucky as Friday the 13th all up in here.

Then again, maybe being the beneficiary of suboptimal cosmic providence is your dig. In that case, by all means avoid purchasing this most select portion of software.

I'd say yes, judging by the demo. The reason I didn't get the full game is because for some reason, the game lagged, very much, I had to downgrade the settings to really low so I could play it. Is this game really that requiring? My PC can play all of the newest games on the highest settings without any problems, I don't see how can an indie game be more requiring than a game that takes millions of dollars to make.

Any suggestions to get this game working?

If you like to be scared or don't mind it but like a really immersive game, Amnesia: The Dark Descent is a no-brainier. It's very well done along these lines.

Yes but be warned, the first play through really counts, it will not be the same after that. Most of the joy and scares come from not know what is around the corner. I hope you like being scared because if any game is to ever scare you it will probably be this one. Part of it comes from you not having a weapon and your only defence being to run like hell.

Yes, dear god yes.

I've played it and I watched my friend play it in the dark the other night. It's caused some of the most amusing scares I've seen.

Also, it almost made me poop myself. Dead Space, eat your heart out.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amnesia is great, and I don't get scared that easily by games, but no way in hell do I ever want to go back into the Choir room, and the prison section is even creepier than that room.

Yup.

I really cannot say enough good things about that game.

The story isn't the best ever and some of the voice acting is dodgy. Everything else about it is great. Gameplay, graphics, atmosphere, sound... you name it. Oh, and it is brick-shittingly terrifying.

However...

This may well be a problem.

I have heard of people getting this with the full version. You might want to look around and see if there is a fix before you shell out your cash. It would suck if you bought the game only to find it unplayable.

Well, I wouldn't say it's "fun", if you're not even into horror games, as you say.

It's like a Lovecraftian horror short-story with a twist, turned into a game. So basically, if you've enjoyed a good horror novel or two, then you will probably like Amnesia. Though if you don't like the genre at all.. well, I couldn't say I'd recommend it. Always good to try new things though.
