This was a bit of a funny story that I would tell people on occasions. It's something that was deeply drilled into my mind at a young age. I don't even remember how old I was at the time, I think like 10 or something.

Anyway, so one day I was watching TV and stumbled upon an actual show of Hello Kitty. I don't know if it was curiosity or boredom or laziness but I decided to keep watching.

So the episode begins with kitty and her friend who is also a kitty (no idea what their names were). They were in the attic looking for.....something, and one of them finds this book of fairy tale stories. The story reads about an enchanted princess and something or other like that, I don't remember. Later the girls get invited to this birthday party. They go off towards wherever this party is supposed to be and walks into these creepy woods. I'm talking creepy like all the trees were bent and had spikes growing out of them and were all black. They found a castle and went inside to find this princess in a coma kinda like Zelda from Zelda 2. They find the princess's parents who tell the kitties the story of what happened, this is where it gets weird.

So long time ago the parents wanted kids. No matter how much they tried they couldn't make any (you know what that means). So they made a deal with what I think is some forest spirit, which was an evil talking puddle. The puddle told them that they would have two kids, but they must sacrifice one. The couple did end up having two children, a boy and a girl, but they refused to give either one up. One day while they were out playing, the boy was lured away by like a glowy orb and walked into the puddle where he disappeared forever. So apparently the sleeping woman is in a coma due to grief over her missing brother (which is weird since it was like ten years ago). So the kitties go out to look for him.

But wait, there's more! They find another creepy castle and wander into it where they find this giant vulture who tells them to go away or something like that. The kitties look at his leg and see the same birthmark as the kid who dissapeared into the puddle. (did I forget to mention the birthmark? My bad) So they finally get the vulture to admit that he's the brother who's been missing all these years but refuses to go back because of his hideous state. Eventually the kitties gave up and decided to go fight the evil pond themselves. One of them sticks their toe in when all the the sudden the vulture swoops in holding a spiked mace and tells them to get back. He swoops into the satan puddle and then some sparkly stuff happens and he turns into his human (actually I think he was a rabbit) self. They all go back to the good castle where the princess wakes up and they all have a big party, and that's pretty much how it ends.

For a little kids show, this stuff had some pretty dark shit. Dark enough that it's been buried in my head for over 8 years. Does anyone remember this at all? Is there a video that exists of this that I can see? I must know!

Lol I have no idea of your age but when I was 10(almost 20 years ago) our bed time stories weren't about some gay ass bear or pink unicorns, but stuff written by the Grimm brothers and similar writters. I can tell you for sure the story you recall from Hello kitty is very similar to those. Not sayin they weren't even darker but one thing I remember for sure:reading or listening to those stories always made me feel like beeing on an adventure. I guess my love for RPGs and adventure games comes from that.

Also funny that you mention Zelda when that scene seems copy paste from the sleeping beauty, but as I said many stories back there had this think of telling story in a story in a story.

I remember this episode!! I remember it very clearly lol. It's funny that I found this blog, right when I was looking for the video myself. I saw this hello kitty epsiode when I was young too and it has always stayed in my mind, and now I really want to see it again. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find it anywhere. When I tried searching for it, I found this blog and some other people asking about the video as well....
