I love how people keep saying the next systems will be out in '11/'12. You don't have a clue when the next systems will hit the market. It seems to me that both MS and Sony are pretty comitted to expanding their current systems instead of pushing the latest hardware. Think about it, with Natal coming out next year, would MS really cut themselves off from potential buyers by announcing the 720?

And at the end of the day, when both systems will have a 40-50 million installed userbase, no one is a loser.

There may be a winner between the 360 and PS3, but to be honest, it's going to be so close, that you could hardly call either the loser. I would actually like to see a new Xbox way before then, just so we can all keep up with the PC crowd, which in two years, if the past is anything to go by, will have rendered the PS3 to looking like a Sega Saturn in comparision. These ten year life cycles simply won't work, especially for Microsoft, who don't seem to be too interested in prolonging the life of the old console once the new comes along. I'm also betting the Wii will see its replacement in the next couple of years, when the current family gaming thing has fully died down and its needs to cater for the more devoted gamer are once again rendered. As for the PS3, I think Sony would be wise to consider making plans pre-2015 for a new iteration of the Playstation, but only time will tell, as no one really knows what can happen in the next six years; what games will come out, and just how important is blu ray to everyone? Will Natal and the PS3 motion controller work and be popular? There are too many factors to consider. Put it this way; back in 2005, who would have predicted that nintendo would go from 3rd to 1st? I bloody didn't.

PS3 is a good blu-ray player, it's not too expensive, and I've heard you get a free games console built in!

Also, I own a PSP (yes, I know, -bad- idea) and the PSP-GO is a big 'fuck-off' to me, cos it make my UMD's totally and utterly useless now (execpt that half of them are broke anyway! grrr)

Seriously, Even IF Sony overtakes Microsoft, Nintendo still won. Wii is in the 90-some million, with XBox at 51 and PS3 at 47 mil each. That's just going off the top of my head, but I looked it up last week, it's somewhere close to that. There's not so much of a gap between 360 and PS3 that what they say isn't do'able, but I wouldn't hold my breath either.

(The PS2 is over 140 million units sold, which makes even the Wii look bad, all things considered)

Yes but the ps2 was on sale for almost a decade so see what the Wii sells at end of its life should be curious.

My 360 and i'll be damned if i pay money to get it fixed when for half the price i can do it myself. Also isn't there a $100 Price cut coming to the PS3? I love Pie.

Well in the uk if get a rrod just walk upto the place you bought from and say can I have a new one and hay presto you get a new one.

I love how you can't mention the 360 without someone following it with RROD. Like MS didn't spend billions fixin the problem. And of course a PS3 has never had a technical malfunction.

There isn't anything fanboyish about owning a PS3 and yet being a little bit miffed they asked for $399 when i bought the 40GB, and two months later the 80Gb is the same price, other than that system has run great, I'm eventually going to switch the drive out for something much larger...Besides I'm more of a PC gamer

I made up both the Mii and the 720 (2x360 is 720, hey if M$ are going to call the 7th gen of Windows "Windows 7" then it stands to reason they will use basic math to create 720), but Nintendo have mentioned (or it was leaked, if you can call a news snippet a leak) in recent months that they are working on the next gen set for around 2011-12.

Natal is a gimmick, like Yahtzee said, your not going to dress up in a ping pong suit and wave yourself around like a manic airport runway controller on speed, since it's the opposite of relaxing after work (unless you don't work of course, then this is called exercise).

Ah I miss home for that very reason, so much damn easier in the UK to get things replaced or exchanged...well apart from the government, I don't miss 17.5% tax on everything.

Yes the PS3 is technologically ahead of the current competitors, but I can't see it being the top system or even 2nd best by 2015, PS2 was king of the hill for 7 years before the next gen came out, stands to reason that we'll see the next gen in the next five or six as well, or in M$, and Nintendo's case the next three.

No one i know has had a system Crash to the point were it needed to be sent in. I've heard rumors but when reading into them its from leaving the system on for like 6 months straight while you had a Heater next to it and it was wrapped in towels lol. Im exaggerating but you get the point lol.

The UK you get a fair amount to of consumer rights though some companies do try to rip you off.

I couldn't care less. If I enjoy the console I brought then I'm happy. I enjoyed the gamecube even though it was, bad. I still went back and played it after I got a PS2. So screw placements. The Wii may be doing well, but I don't care because I enjoy the 360 over the wii.

Check Youtube for the fanboy comments on old Halo 3 vids. Those are some unofficial people who claimed it would be the leader.

I also remember someone directly from Microsoft saying they would be the winners this generation. But when you quoted me was a while back and I'm not sure if I can find it now. So you can proceed to call me a fanboy. I don't want to defend a post I made months back, when my posting skills were subpar.
