Angry Birds Dev Hatching Publishing Label

Did anyone not see this news coming?

Sure, Angry Birds may have <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/113014-Angry-Birds-Shaves-1-5-Billion-Off-the-U-S-Economy>cost the U.S. economy roughly $1.5 billion last year, but it's also made developer Rovio enough money to get into the movie business and create a <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/110184-Rovio-Builds-Giant-Real-Life-and-Playable-Angry-Birds-Set>real-life Angry Birds level. Now, it turns out that the company is getting ready to set up its own indie publishing label that will put out (what else) addictive mobile titles.

Following up on rumors that the Finnish studio would be launching its own publishing group in the near future, Develop approached Rovio about these reports. Rovio neither confirmed nor denied the claims. Instead, the company's "Mighty Eagle" (side note: is that not the greatest job title ever or what?) Peter Vasterbacka nebulously stated, "We have some plans for this area, but not ready to announce yet. If we do something in the publishing area, you can expect it to be a bit different."

Let's be honest about this: Rovio is obviously going to get involved with game publishing eventually, it's just a matter of when it'll happen. The only question is if the company will produce <a href=http://www.amazon.com/Angry-Birds-Plush-Bird-Sound/dp/B004RQAANK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1316581585&sr=8-1>tie-in plush toys for the other games it publishes.

This was a very uncreative game that I could find billions of better versions on the internet for free for years. Then he comes around and for some reason, people swarm.

The worst part is the amount of money, you think with so little people and so many problems they would help the world just a little. Nope, real life angry birds is more important.

True, there are many different versions of the Angry Birds model, long before Angry Birds existed. But I think the reason it has exploded like it has is it is very polished and constantly updated with new and interesting levels. All for 59p! Obviously they have done something rediculously right to have so many, fans, so much success and so much money now. Also, it's addicting, the cornerstone of a mobile game.

Out of all the bullsh rich people do [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/113155-Would-You-Pay-Almost-60-000-For-A-Cell-Phone], this is the thing you're taking a stand against?

Just...no...no.

OT: I seem to remember them having some tomfoolery to say about the games industry in the past. They seem to be getting a pretty big head for having made one game.
