Anita Blake, Sookie Stackhouse or Cat Crawford?

Ok, so True Blood is like the Vampire second coming and everyone looooves it, but what about Anita and Cat? Do you think that the Sookie books were the right choice for a TV adaptation? Anita (until she turned into a whiny, angsty, whore) had strong writing and a protagonist that was far more dynamic. Cat Crawford of the Nighthuntress Series by Jeaniene Frost is my personal favorite, and I would shove True Blood (a show I do in fact love to watch) in front of an oncoming bus to see a Cat and Bones show replace it. Do you think True Bloods success will open doors for other vamp series to be adapted to the small screen?

Everyone loves Redneck Vampire Porn?

*blink*

What did I miss?

I Uh.. I Uh.. I like the Vampires in Supernatural. Does that count? And, uh.. uh.. Buffy was good. Yes. Buffy. But not Angel so much. And, uh... Well, I guess if you are going the Vampires are cuddly route, maybe Moonlight? Moonlight was acceptable. Or Blood Ties. Blood Ties was somewhat interesting. Don't get me started on the Vampire Diaries though. Ugh. (So, err... there already is a whole bucket load of Vampires on the small screen.. how much more do you want?)

Oh what am I saying.

Any Vampire that doesn't get a stake driven through him or his head cut off is a bad vampire. Unless they're called Spike. Then they might get a free pass. Might. Maybe.

Buffy was a bit before my time, but what I've seen of it was fun if a not a little campy, and Moonlight the vamps were a kinda whinny pussys...Blood Ties was the one on LIFETIME right? 'Nuff said on that. I agree that Vampire Diaries is crap. I like the shows and books that portray Vamps as dynamic and diverse as humans. Some are neutral, some are good, some are bad and some are just down right nasty. That's why I asked about those three series in particular. I'm wondering about the uber popular book series being put on TV, not just shows about Vamps.

True blood has Alexander Skarsgård and therefore True Blood shall stay on the air. That scene in season 2 where he drinks that guy's blood... Yummy...

I read the first few Stackhouse novels after having given up on Anita Blake (I've never read the Nighthuntress series), and the feel really is much the same.

I don't think that another "vampires as part of modern society with the dramas and legal issues coming with that; the action focused on a young woman with supernatural powers who becomes embroiled in the world of said vampires because one of them is romantically interested in her" would enjoy the same success. Anita Blake was always angsty (and, much to my dismay, could never pick a consistent religion to end her once-per-book explanation of how the Catholic church looks down on her profession/monster-banging, but fortunately she's an Episcopalian/Protestant/Anglican/leader of her own vampire cult).

I'd rather see them do a legitimate adaptation of the Dresden Files.
