I hate the Tea Party movement. A few guys at the top, almost certainly big company lobbyists, purposefully spreading misinformation and engaging in alot of fingerpointing in order to mobilize angry, paranoid and stupid people into believing their agenda, which usually consists of keeping everything as broken as it is.

Such as health care. Why change it? It's not like the U.S. system is the most expensive and least efficient in the world. Oh and Obama kills babies and eats puppies.

Anonymous strikes me as a well-motivated grassroots group of anti-psychotic psychotics.

First Scientology, now the Tea Party.

I wish them well, and remind all participants that haters gonna hate.

So we "punish" those we disagree with now?
We lay claim to pop-culture references as well?

I can't wait to see what is going to happen if a politician runs on the slogan "Yes, I CAN haz cheezburger".

Seriously, though, the reality is that the Tea Party in all likelihood backed off the slogan (peacefully I might add) simply because it didn't want to be associated with an outfit like Anonymous. At all. Who would? They've got enough problem with being accused of being racists, I'm certain they don't want to be associated at all with a group of fanatics who think that civil disobedience means being an extreme jackwagon at every possible opportunity for their self-serving egos.

All Anonymous have done is made a case for certain believers in Net Neutrality and cyber-bullying.

Caution Anonymous that you don't find yourselves snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Hm... I suppose... My stupid.

But I've actually never heard of anonymous before today. I just done' undertand any of it... Especially the epilepsy thing I posted above

Anonymous are internet trolls.

A large group of anonymous internet trolls. That's it. They aren't organised, or led, they're just a bunch of people that like to troll other internet users for fun.

The only cause they are in any way organized around is protesting the church of scientology, and even that is decried by other Anons. for being too organized and high-profile, and not generating enough "lulz".

As far as I'm concerned, they're a necessary evil of the internet - sure, they may get destructive and antagonistic when they have nothing better to do, but they also enact a lot of vigilante justice online as well.

What it boils down to is just that they're trolls, and they'll troll whatever seems like a troll-worthy target on any given day.

If that means trolling someone who's being evil and a giant dick, they'll do that. If it means trolling a kid who posts stupid videos on youtube, they'll do that too.

The trick is to just not draw their attention. (like, by using their motto, for instance)

---

Regarding the article you posted, it's always fun to see people repot on something like this with absolutely no idea with regards to online dynamics and crowdsourcing.

Some anonymous folk associated with 4chan may have been responsible for the attacks on those epilepsy sites (trolling, remember), but those actions aren't tied to "anonymous" as a group, because there is no central group. There are just people who are anonymous, who band together around actions and then disperse back into the crowd.

of course no charges were laid against anonymous, there is no anonymous. there are just individuals who are anonymous. "anonymous" is just a name.

Hopefully, that cleared things up, a bit.

The first thing to know about Anonymous is that you are one of them or you are against them. There is no grey area.

If you leave them alone they'll leave you alone; do the opposite in any form and you will lose.

So here's my take on this: The Oregon Tea Party is run by people who hang out on 4chan; those people think it would be cute to lift a popular slogan from that site for themselves; they're found out and attacked; they capitulate quickly because, after all, they like to hang out on 4chan (probably posting photo-shopped pictures of Obama).

The big news here, I think, is that the Tea Party is run by 4chan users. Some good, wholesome Americans there - dontcha think?

Right - whatever. I'm a tea party member and I don't think Glenn Beck is christ. True tea partiers are middle-of-the-road, not libertarians like Beck. I just don't want to pay high taxes and be foreced to buy health insurance when I don't need it right now. That's what it's about, not that liberal propaganda-porn like you see on MSNBC with its whore-in-charge Keith Olbermann spreading lies & BS about ordinary people. It's so easy to call someone a racist when you disagree with their politics. Quit *****-slapping people with the lies, get out of your left-wing media cocoon and step outside to smell the real world.

I think Anon being described as 'a force of nature' is most appropriate for them. Sometimes they wreak the equivalent of nature's elemental disasters by posting porn on Justin Bieber youtube links or such...but other times, like trolling Oprah with the over 9000 penises meme or effectively rickrolling MTV 2008 music awards...you can't help but be amazed and perhaps even appreciative of their efforts.

The people behind them are dicks for the most part, no doubt about that. But as a whole...they ain't good or bad. They just are. :)

I suppose. it's kind of like how 4chan loves to take credit for ebaumworld's trolling and vice versa. I suppose any mass trolling that they can't identify as a specific group MUST have been anonymous. The necessary evil thing makes sense I suppose. Obviously I would love to see a massive dick punished rather than certain other individuals, but the internet will always have an anonymous.

Thanks for the info

They're basically of chaotic-neutral allignment, if you catch my meaning. they'll attack any and everyone, good or bad, and have no agenda beyond doing what they feel like at any given time.
