Do we really need new Godzilla films...?

We need something fresh, not just a modern rehash of a classic.

This is awesome, but now im curious, what city do you think there gonna have the big guy attack? I know New York City is the go to city for movie destruction but that place is kinda starting to become a cliche. What cities do you guys think the big guy should go after?

Yay very good news to hear indeed. I am probably one of the few that really liked the 1998 being I was only 7 at the time and had never seen other Godzilla movies ever. Been hoping that another one would always come out since I saw the Cloverfield trailer.

Whoever says that are clearly not paying attention to the right movies. I would be so sad if one day there were no new B-movies. That's where all the best cheese is.

Finally, more monster movies! The last monster movie we had was cloverfield and that was adequate.

I loved the 1998 movie! It was one of my favourite films as a kid, and I even love it now. Is there something wrong with me?

Edit: What confuses me is that the movie mentions a Trade centre booming, now this maybe just bad knowledge of American history on my part, but is it talking about what I think it is?
Terrorists bombed the underground parkning lot in the early 1990's. I think the year was 1990, but I'm not sure.

I also loved the 1998 film. I don't think Godzilla fans have anything to worry about. This studio has an amazing track record when it comes this sort of thing.

I'm not sure what to say, on one hand my first reaction was again, seriously? But maybe with the studio it has now it can actually make it really good. I'm just hoping it doesn't crash and burn, bringing the studio with it.

How would you make World of Warcraft into a movie? There are like, 300 different story lines! What, is the movie going to be a few months long?

Those are not reboots. It's a different Godzilla every time.
There was only one that was made in America. How does that sole film get designated as "those". Also, don't complain until we get some footage at least, thats just ridiculously pessimistic. To the point where it doesn't even make sense anymore.
I hold some fairly good hopes so long as Michael Bay is kept far far away from this via a wrought iron fence guarded by Jet Jaguar.

Now all this reboot needs is Morgan Freeman...
He DID work with Legendary on The Dark Knight... so maybe it's possible? I sure hope so.

I thought Godzilla 1998 was pretty decent. But anyway...

You guys think the 1998 Godzilla was bad, you should watch Godzilla's Revenge, then come tell me which you think is worst. (Godzilla enthusiasts know what im talking about)

B-movies will always come out. People don't make a b-movie on purpose, and anybody that tries to misses the point entirely. I am looking at you, Quentin!

Don't worry, I was just referring to the Zelda timeline [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.124732] and that "it's a new Link every time."

Heh I've been asking myself that since it was official we'd get one.

I grew up watching the old Godzilla movies and STILL liked the 98' one. I still don't see anything bad with it and I still have a tiny hope in the back of my soul for a sequel LOL. Once this movie comes out I know all I'm gonna hear are comparisons to Cloverfield.
