Another Save Bug Found in PS4 Version of Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain

Multiple account users beware.

Konami has alerted players of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain on PlayStation 4 to a bug which could result in the loss of their save file. A message from the company (published in a photo obtained by GameSpot [http://www.gamespot.com/articles/new-metal-gear-solid-5-ps4-save-bug-reported/1100-6431001/]) states that there are cases where playing The Phantom Pain with multiple Sony Entertainment Network (SEN) accounts on a single PS4 console can result in an error message which reads, "This save data cannot be used, as the relevant downloadable content was not found" when attempting to load, at which point it is impossible to proceed with the saved game.

Along with conveying sincere apologies and making assurances that steps are being made to remedy the issue, the publisher is encouraging users to limit their play of MGS V to just one SEN account per PlayStation 4 console until a decision has been made on how to proceed.

This is the second issue related to broken save files players have run into with the new Metal Gear Solid. A bug discovered the week after launch [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/142352-Konami-Releases-More-Details-on-Metal-Gear-Solid-5-The-Phantom-Pain-Bug] caused problems for players on all platforms when using the character Quiet as a buddy on specific missions resulted in corrupted save data.

Careful...for each one of these bug reports, Hideo gets 5 lashes from the Konamicane. We don't want him dead just yet. He still needs to produce Mute Undulations for us.

These are relatively small issues. This years biggest screw up will be WB's Arkham Knight.
By a landslide even.

As for the issue at hand, I'm glad for the heads up but hopefully by the time I move on to this game it will all be fixed. I wonder how many people like me are stuck with a year's backlog or more of good games?

*raises hand*

I have a backlog and a set of Skyrim saves I'm not willing to drop just yet, but I keep using the fraction of each paycheck I keep on tap for game purchases. Ergo, the backlog keeps growing.

Damn you Steam, and your sensible and tantalizing holiday prices!

Pretty sure he's no longer with Konami now so it doesn't really matter, he's off ether resting or getting ready for his next project.

the poor shlub they have doing the bug fixing might get the cane though, right before the demote him to janitor

A bug that wipes your save is not a small issue.....especially in a huge open world game like MGS5. Come on Sony, sort it out. Is this new bug a Playstation only one or is it on Xbox or PC? Hopefully they will look into all platforms just in case.

I'm in. Although how I've started dealing with it is that I have to beat three games for every new one I purchase. At least, that's what I'm trying to do. That and avoid trophy/achievement hunting. That just sucks time needlessly down the drain.

A candle shall be lit in honour of the nameless one. In the closet, by the mop, his only remaining co-worker/friend.

So far they have only had cases reported with the PS4 versions though they should probably check the other platforms to be safe.
