So I recently got my first Smartphone ever and I am wondering if there is any interesting or good games for it.

The phone is the Google Nexus 4.
I have already got quite a number of Humble Android Bundle games so please try to keep those out.

MyGBA is probably the best GBA emulator on the Marketplace. The free version is very playable, but the paid version is worth getting if you want the emulator special editions, like save spots and time modifications and cheats.

[sub]Yadda yadda don't get ROMs for emulators unless you have the physical version because otherwise that's considered piracy.[/sub]

Here's what I've got on my phone right now, minus anything in a humble bundle.

NetHack
Knights Of Pen & Paper
Cthulhu Saves The World
Cut The Rope
Penny Arcade's On The Rain-slick Precipice of Darkness 4
Angry Birds[footnote]No really, it's a pretty fun puzzle game, despite all the rampant merchandizing turn the franchise has taken.[/footnote]
Osmos
ScummVM [footnote]an interpreter app that lets you play many old point & click adventure games. I use it to play my Curse of Monkey Island on the go.[/footnote]

There's also a variety of good emulators available for most retro consoles and handhelds.

Don't you mean My Boy!, because I've never seen or heard of MyGBA. And yes, it is a good emulator.

I generally stay away from fps, platformers and most action-heavy genres, since they often don't translate well to touch-based devices, especially those with limited screen-space, like most phones. Adventures, turn-based strategy, puzzle games and turn-based rpgs are a better fit.

Danmaku Death is Touhou for your phone if you are into that.

Since I don't know any others I'll be lurking in this thread.

Why play Android titles when you can enjoy GBA,PS1,SNES,Genesis etc games using an emulator ? The only decent Android titles i can think of are Zenonia series for rpg,Cut the rope,Angry Birds,Fruit Ninja, etc but i dont play these games i play old classics using emulator.Just the fun of playing Mario,Pokemon,Donkey Kong etc on your phone is a good feeling.

I never realized how amazing a bullet hell would be on a touch screen. It works very well from what i tried with this title. However there is no story and the bosses are completely random...

I totally recommend the Squids series which includes Squids and Squids Wild West (but be aware an upgraded bundle pack of these games is coming to the 3DS later this year, so if you have one of those and are interested maybe wait for that)

The Escapist itself describes it as a mix of Angry Birds and Final Fantasy Tactics. It's a physics flinging turn based RPG set in a beautiful underwater world, it's got a lot of great characters, and an AMAZING storyline that I would say trumps most AAA games on the market right now.

It's fun, it's challenging, it's got a lot of content, lotsa characters, these are just overall good games. I can't recommend them enough.

Also, while I'm not sure if this game is actually on Android or not, look into Nihilumbra. It's a Limbo-esque (I hate to describe it that way, but it works) platformer that does a good job blending story and gameplay. I had a really hard time putting it down when I got it.

I wish I could be more help. If you were asking for iOS games I could give you a really long list lol but my knowledge on Android games are pretty limited.

Hope this helps some.

EDIT: Oh, and get Jetpack Joyride. I believe it's free. You'll thank me later.

Oh, I'm also gonna go ahead and recommend Hungry Oni. I believe that's on Android as well. Should also be free. It's an addictive little title.

Root your phone and get the Sixaxis app so you can use Playstation controllers with your phone. Some games and emulators have native support but even those without can be used thanks to some pretty cool touch emulation.

I've been playing Carmageddon and R-Type lately, Bards Tale is supposed to be very good also but I've yet to try it myself. Rayman Jungle Run is a decent platformer despite only having a single input button - works very well.
