I have a litle problem, when I first started out on COD I was mainly a rapid weapon expert, but now I'm trying to master sniper rifles.

Camping is not much of an option for me as I get sniped by enemies that I couldn't see,so I have to quickscope.

I watched Videos on Youtube, but I always screw up on the aiming, by mostly missing only by about half a metre off my target if I'm moving(or they are).

So I was wondering if anyone could help me?

practise.

it'll take some serious time before you can recoqnise an enemy standing in the perfect middle of your screen.

or draw a little dot on the screen with a marker. that'll do.

Practise. Easiest way is to get a group of friends into a private game with everyone quickscoping. Preferably rust so everyones always got someone to kill.

Quickscoping is not that difficult. If you had played CoD2 and went on the all rifle servers this would come so much easier however, since you haven't there are a few tricks. If you aren't a good judge of the screen middle go into an empty server take out your sniper. Bring up the sight and put a piece of blue tack in the middle of the screen. That way it is easier to know where the centre is.

On to the actual quickscoping. For me this involves hitting the right click on my ouse and quickly hitting left click as well. You nearly wanna hit them at the same time so you get the accuracy boost but can exit out of it quickly to avoid tunnel vision. It will take awhile to master but is a necessary skill for any sniper for close range. Remember though quick scoping is for Close encounters you can really use it for long encouters and really should set those up properly to take into account your ping and reaction time for aiming ahead of the target. Roughly 40ping = 0.2 second delay. My reaction time click is around .1 -> .16 that was important when I was an interupter in Guild Wars but it is nice to know for sniping in things like CoD. If you do have any other questions on sniping as I have played all the other CoD games don't be afraid to ask.

Based on what you guys told me, I think I'm becoming more sure on what my problem is.

I think it's my timing, as when I usually play cod I have a twitchy finger(hence the assault rifles & SMGs) and I screw up on the crosshairs.

The scary thing is that that may well be a serious suggestion for people dedicated enough to the game.

Only if you have an old one, with the convex glass and stuff. I use a little red sticker! It works a charm.

quickscoping is annoying as hell, ill be playing with my FAL and someone will get me from chuffing point blank with a sniper rifle. this is NOT what a sniper is intended for, get a FAL if you want to run about

Play a good game like Battlefield bad company 2 :)

Quick scoping is a lot of luck.. if you use the barret just spray like a whore bag, 1/2 bullets will land

Quickscoping has nothing to do with skill, it's just a matter of blind firing until you hit someone.

Play Counter-Strike, where quick scoping takes skill instead of luck.
Probably this... I play Counter-Strike and I've got about four buttons I press in the timespan of about one second. That is, right click/left click/q/q and any CS:S player should be able to tell me what this means.

Also, you have to follow your target. Don't aim where he is now, aim where he's going.

Practice, get some friends together, get on Rust and snipe it out. Seriously the best and easiest way. After 5 or so sessions on Rust I became a pretty able quickscoper.

EDIT: This is huge, DONT MOVE WHEN YOU SHOOT! always stop and take the shot. The physics are so fucked that you could have the crosshairs on the head and you see the tracer hit the head but you wont get a kill. You have to be standing still or if you are moving drag the scope and aim to the left or right depending on which way you are moving. Practicing on Rust will help you alot with all this

ok, someone was accusing me of using an "aimbot" the other day on BFBC2. I got him with four headshots four different times in a row that were mostly luck coupled with the fact the dummy kept coming down the same path over and over again. (I guess a little skill too. I'm a decent shot.) I can imagine what an aimbot is, but how do you put one on or whatever so it helps you aim? I love my games, and I'm good with Excel but I'm no software guy.
