The boring one
Every grounded franchise that has that one episode with voodoo that ends with the mandatory "wasn't real OR WAS IT dun dun dun".

Goes back to grounded afterwards.

Also Twin Peaks started like a police procedural, and then it became twin peaks. And then it became twin peaks the return.

-Resident Evil (the entire span of RE1 to RE6, before things were dialed back again)
And then RE VIII has werewolves, vampires, zombies (of a different kind), and Frankenstein style monsters. Still doing in the wizard, obviously of how they came to be, but no magic. REVIII is RE4/RE4R with Universal Monsters and in first-person (with an optional third-person mode as a free update). Plus, RE7 did have Evelin, the lead of her molded, being able to telepathically communicate/take over with anyone infected the mold virus. She's literally just a molded version of Alma. Nowhere near off the rails as RE6, but still kind of there.

Family Matters started off pretty grounded for the first two seasons, but got more sci-fi and somewhat fantastical around Season 3 (when the show started becoming Urkel focused). Honestly, it was somewhat for the better, as it helped the show standout and last as long as it did. Any supernatural stuff were usually one-offs or an "all a dream" episode.

Venture Bros. started off as a Johnny Quest parody, but got more action and drama heavy around the second and third season. With loads of continuity.

The Boondocks got sillier starting with the second season and afterward.

Friday the 13 - Most of you already know the story at this point.
