I'm having trouble with this section on Tali's recruitment mission on Hardcore difficulty.

I keep getting up as far as the top of the ramps where the Colossus is in my view, but It seems the enemies just infinitely respawn here and I end up getting toasted by those Destroyers and thier damn flamethrower that pins you to the spot.

Anyone got tips? Is there a cutoff point for the spawns?

I used the "mininuke" & a shit load of Overloads.
Suprisngly it was the other Geth i had trouble with.

Other than "kill it with fire" or "Nuke it from orbit", I'm not very helpful. But I'm sure that there are FAQ's that will give you tips on that.

Yeah me too, it's those darn red Destroyers that keep toasting me.

I really hate bossfights that make you deal with swarms of smaller enemies to cover up for the fact that the actual boss doesn't have much going for it in the way of tactics.

I pressed stealth, walked around the corner and casted my Blackhole gun once, killed all the Geth and brought the Colossus down to half armor, duck around the corner and restealthed for a sniper shot.

Then again Sniper Rifles are pretty overpowered in ME2..

I beat it on hardcore, I went up the top ramp and pushed along it, moving my teammates from cover to cover in front of me so they could take the shots more and I could restore them if necessary. I was fighting as I went over, but I was focusing on moving fowards not killing all the geth. Once I got to the other side I cleaned up the remaining geth and attacked the colossus from behind. So maybe the spawns stop once you get nearer the colossus?

I've beaten it on Insanity. Best advice I can give you is to be patient and take out the little guys. There is a limit to them even on insanity. Stay in the first area and take cover in a spot where you can fire without the colossus hitting you. Clear out this area then move up wherever you are most comfortable (which seems to be the sniper perch). Continue to take out the little guys, but make sure you don't let the Colossus hit you. It takes a long time but when it is just you and the Colossus position your squadmates somewhat close to it, then draw it's attention. Let your squadmates pound away at it and pop up to shoot rounds in between it's charges. If it goes into repair mode, good luck and pound it as hard as you can. It's not easy, I did it my first time (which I don't often do usually takes me 2-3 tries) and even so it took me a good 25 minutes to kill it. It was not easy, but if you take it slow and move up when there is minimal fire on you, it should be ok. The Destroyers have a hard time taking you out if you fall back too. If a Destoryer comes too close, I would recommend falling back to Kal'Reegar and waiting for it to come to the ramp.

I beat it on Hardcore. Basically, get up to where it is, using the wall that you need to turn around to get to it as cover, and pick off the little guys. It takes a while, and if you see a destroyer coming too close, run, but you can do it eventually.

Beat it on Insanity with an Engineer/Thane/Garrus.

Two sniper rifles really tear shit up. Pulling a heavy weapon (preferably the Cain) just destroys it.

Should note that the Grenade Launcher is pretty much the second best heavy weapon behind Cain as well. Don't take the Missile Launcher, it's shit.

Try to convince Reegar to hide too. Don't want him to die :(

Yeah that's how I eventually beat it.

It's a wierd one because on the high ledge you end up further away form the Colossus as you do on the other side, but the spawns stop as soon as you reach the end of the ledge and not when you get right up in his face on the other side.

The collector ship was fuckin nasty too, Goddamn that Pretorian...

I agree bout the Praetorian. I didn't die but it was a pain in the ass having my teammates randomly move underneath it right as I drop it's barrier on insanity. I love Garrus but it's like he thought it was funny as hell to make it "melee" and restore it's barrier. I almost let him die because of it. That was the first time I have run out of ammo in ME2.

Yeah, I haven't done insane yet but even on hardcore Garrus (and all the friendly AI) can be utterly stupid.

Like in Garrus's mission, when the two YMIR mechs appear, I specifically positioned both him and Miranda behind two pieces of cover, and instead they ran right out into the open into a hail of miningun fire.

So I hid behind a box and spent five minutes spamming warp as they lay dead, I wasn't gonna waste my medigel on those idiots.

Going to echo the issue with AI characters not sitting in cover when on low health. Garrus' recruitment mission on Insanity is especially guilty of this, causing more than a little hair tearing.

I love fighting YMIR mechs though. They're like a portable Cain shot right next to the enemy!
