Well I really like my life :) Everythings perfect... All I need now is a woman of my own :S Unfortunatly that is where my self esteem falls :'(

But yeah besides that one little issue I think I rock! >:D

Women are just like men. But with boobs. And vaginas. Just act as confident as you are around your buddies around women and you'll do fine.
I hung out with a group of 8 girls in high school. I have no problems talking with women. My best friend is essentially like a sister to me.

When I happen to like a woman, then I can talk to them about anything except the fact that I like them. If I try, I freeze and gain an instant stammer.

I have no problem with speaking to girls. One of my best friends is a girl, and I get along with both guys and gals. But its when I like one that it all changes! I can still make with the friendly but can never work up the courage to ask them out!
You both are very similar. Just know that it's not going to ruin your life if you are rejected. You are merely set back a bit. If you can't face setbacks then you can't face life. (That turned deep)
I'm well aware of that. I just happen to take rejection very hard, and it take me a while to get over it. And it's gotten to the point where I'm almost afraid to try because of the possibility of failure (almost. not there yet though).

Hell yeah I'm awesome. I'm the only person in the entire world who I completely understand.

I'm awesome because... I like Star Wars! All of 'em! Bring it!

Hmm... Feels weird to be able to say that and not get loads of people saying: "You are not a real Star Wars fan!" I love the Escapist.

A really common occurrence I've noticed here on the Escapist is people complaining about how much they suck. Are self esteem issues something inherent amongst nerds/gamers, or do we just have an over-representation of angsty teens?

Anyway, I was wondering about the flipside of this. The Escapees who think that they're actually awesome.

So Escapist, do you think you are awesome? And why?
I don't have any self-esteem. I consider the concept rather feckless since it is based on the assumption that a person must have an opinion of themselves to identify with. Awesome, not awesome, smart, funny, handsome, clever etc, these are all comparative adjectives and as such you can not actually *be* any of them. They're only relevant when you stand next to someone else that you can be compared to.

Since I like to think of myself as an individual and since mankind is yet to invent an infallible and absolute way of measuring any quality attributable to a person, I'll forego the entire subject matter and judge myself based on my personal motivations and achievements (that is actual achievements, not video game ones) instead.

I don't think it. I fucking know it.
I support this statement.

OT: Nope, not really. I am loved by one and all!

you're haunted by a midget too!?
O.T. I don't have low self esteem but that's my joke with my friends sometimes I take it too far sometimes they laugh some of them I can't open up to (there's only 1 person (that's non-family) I really can tell everything to)

I have kinda low self esteem. It is just so easy to make fun of myself! But I feel that I am fine how I am.

Yay all these awesome people in here...it's a real regular Awesome People United League Association Alliance of Awesomeness...right here of all places!

Well...you're awesome...until you're not (anymore) and vice versa.

Right now...I'm still working on becoming awesome in my own eyes. Hard work! Then again...nobody said it would be easy. No pain no gain... I guess.

Yes, he's small, and tries to make up for it by being a wanker...

well mine's puerto rican and she punishes you by a kick in the shins or drawing on you or if you really screw up and happen to be a guy a swift kick in the balls but she is nice and fun to be around as long as you don't call her short

I try to think of the positives. So what if I'm not a star football player when girls come up to me and call me cute for just sitting around? So what if I'm not the best looking guy out there when I have girlfriends anyway? And even if I didn't I still have friends. Think of the positives.

I heard talk of evil midgets. Mine's ginger. And a wanker.

I don't have low self-esteem, but I don't really have very high self-esteem either. It's kind of in the middle.

Either way, I don't go around telling everyone how much I suck, and I don't like when anyone else does it.

I probably should have. got some good reasons, too. I don't though, and I have no idea why.

The solution is cynicism. If everything and everyone sucks, then it's a lot easier to think highly of yourself.

I think my avatar sums up my thoughts ("Why yes, I am awesome" if it's too small to read). I have the opposite problem; My sense of self-worth is so high it's stratospheric.

I know I have flaws but I just don't dwell on them, they're only as big of a problem as you let them become, and if you respect yourself then it makes it more likely that others will reciprocate it.

I lost my self esteem and got depressed really bad since (soon year ago) I lost my ability to draw, write and play percussion to a nerve problem on my right hand that now threatens my ability to play games now. I been in line for pscylogicial help for 8 months and I been trough 2 specialist doctors.

And for short note. I received several awards and stipends for my Art and I have been steaming off my feelings with it since I was 3 and been in private-artschool since I was 4.
I played percussion for 3 years in 6 months I went to B-level orchestra and in 6 months from there I was on A level orchestra. Now I am practicing to play something else.

Call me angsty whining teen and Ill bash your face in with my Mini-laptop that I am fully reliant now in school.
- - - - - - -
I hide all this behind hard shell cover that makes me look like strong determinded person who's master in hes class. And all I am half worthless cripple.

At least I have reason to say I suck at something. That Is why I tell other people too feel better.

But I think many people think they are bad even they are having bretty good standing in things.

P.S Sorry for the personal rant.

I dunno, I don't think that highly of myself, but I'm happy. Good body, average looks, and I'm doing well at school, so I'm satisfied.

+ I just got a puppy, which makes me feel even better.
