Anyone here played LBX (Little Battle Experience) 3ds?

I'm just wondering if anyone had bought this niche of a game?

While I have heard of LBX, Little Battle Experience from the models side of things (I just view them as another mech models entering the market and the models are kiddy looking which is not a bad thing), I only came across the game from the shelf at my local store toy a month ago.

So I looked into it and got interested in it to the point of buying it recently (it was on sale at the toy store but not low enough but Amazon had it lower recently). As a mech fan, I couldn't pass it up! LBX itself kinda remind me of Medabot (except they're not sentient and can talk) and Custom Robo.

As for the plot, it's your typical Yugioh, Duel Master etc sort of plot (Cardgame on motocycle!) which it's even more ridiculous and over the top! Not only it's the usual a kid stopping an evil organization but the first few chapters had the kids stopping an assassination plot against the prime minister (I laugh the part when the adult send the kids directly to the assassin just cos the killer was using an LBX instead of a sniper rifle)!

Anyway the gameplay itself is solid (3rd person shoot/ combat) which it kinda remind of the rare gem Gotcha Force. The mechs themselves are decent looking but I'm still early at the game. Knowing a few of the models and looking up the rest online, some of them do look pretty awesome.

Granted the downside is the odd difficulty cruve (first few chapters, it's very hard to defeat NPC LBX that isn't related to the story plot), getting used to the terminology (I still don't get the rarity names and colours) and the lack of online battles (you can't only have wireless multiplayer battles nearby).

Anyway the point of this thread is I'm just wondering if anyone else have bought and played the game (just a general dicussion toward it)?

Right now I'm only at chapter 3 and I only just got the hang of it (as I mention above the steep learning curve) just by explioting the password and dlc content (I sell the medels which got me enough to buy those passward/ dlc parts cos they have way more defence and HP than the current models so I'm kinda OP for now). I started with G Lex and bought some of the Eplison AU parts (look awesome).

I've also purchased it not too long ago and I'm around the same place in the plot.

I have to say as an original IP, it's very engaging and brings something new to the table that say a certain third installment from a series that starts with 'M' and ends with 'egaman Legends' (or 'egaman 64' for the Nintendo crowd) could have fulfilled.

The only personal issue I have with it is that I've grown attached the the bare frame of AX-00. He's blue, agile, and can take a decent amount of punishment that using the Achilles frame is not very desirable. It is Chapter 3, however, so I'm sure that I'll come to find a frame that I'll like and give me a tactical advantage in battle.

I saw this on the shelves too and looked up some reviews. While most written reviews aren't raving about it (Which is what turned me away initially, I didn't have the data on my phone to watch gameplay then and there), I looked and found some that do enjoy it, as well as some video reviews that quite like the game. It looks interesting! Apparently it's quite fun. And considering how much customization there is, I think this might tap into my enjoyment of customizing a mech (Being an Armored Core lover, but I doubt this gets onto AC's level). I have a game or two to trade in, so maybe I'll pick it up! Thanks for the thread~

Ah finally some comments! I was starting to think I was the only one on here who had bought the game and shown interest in it!

If you want to "cheat/ expliot" here are the passwords http://www.gamefaqs.com/3ds/163470-lbx-little-battlers-experience/cheats or turn the wifi on to download the dlc stuff. The LBX you get from there are way more superior then the one you get from the game store at the moment. Also yes it does take abit of farming but it depends which LBX you're going for. Example-
Eplison AU (I got all parts now) is high end so it took abit of time (basically you farm the "random encounter" and sell the medals you get from the drops) but it look so cool looking while I bought the upgraded LBX for the party characters LBX (Hunter 2/ Fenrir and Konichi Ni) which are not so expensive.
The passwords you can buy the sets and the weapons while the DLC is buying the set parts and core item randomly but I think they're cheaper? (Also it's not as random as you think if you catch on the patterms.) It depends which LBX look cooler or have your prefered stats.

As for customizable goes, it pretty much picked and mixed the body parts however some are upgraded version or have a similar styles to it (White Empress, Emperor and Xenon are detail looking knights LBX). Also there customization for the LBX core (the inside) which is pretty much similar to game Infinite Space. You get a bunch of Tetris shapes and try to used the best parts while fitting it in together!

Sounds neat! Funny thing, the game is on sale on the eShop, so I traded in a game and carved away $20 from the $35 price tag. It's downloading right now! I'm amazed at how large the game is, taking up 14.4k blocks. Had to delete some stuff to make room. That at least shows me it's gonna be a decently lengthy and content filled experience. Though, the store description and your quote tells me there's more I can download... I miiiiiight need to make more room. Gah!

That somewhat doesn't suprised me.

I read that you don't encounter all of the LBX in story mode and there is a game + after you beat the game (however I read it is ALOT more difficult). As for how many LBX in the game, it's less than original 150 Pokemon (around 133-135) but come on, that is still alot given that if you're going to collect them, you gonna have to aquire ALL of the bodyparts to complete that set. That's the LBX alone as the weapons come into the collection aswell (several weapons types by the way)!

So, it might be early to be judging the game so far. I've only had my first battle, but... It's way cooler to play than to watch! The cutscenes and acting are so far pretty good, and I like the style Level 5 went for. The level of stat customization has just the right amount to satisfy me, I can already tell. And the music is really good... That first battle theme is the stuff I like a lot. Combat was fast and fun despite not having much combo potential for my weapon, but I assume that's cause it's the first one. Getting more should change that, I imagine (And being able to swap out will as well).

First impressions are high. The game has me smiling at the tutorial stage! Thanks a bunch for making this thread. If it were 2 days later, I would've missed the sale and maybe missed out and getting LBX so soon!

Glad you liked it :)

As for the weapons, try the spike weapons (dagger and knuckleduster) if you want combos (it can do 5 combo). In saying so I don't think all weapons types behave the same way (e.g. you can dual wield 1H guns as long you got two of them however I come across a pistol that can't be dualwield and there is a shotgun pistol meaning it has a shorter range compared to the others).

Also in cased you didn't know already, there is an anime of it (done by a different studio and not Level 5) but I have no intention on watching it.

As for me, I only just started chapter 5 at the moment. I would had started it sooner but I was farming yet again (not necessary, I was just trying to get these dlc weapons which are super rare to get).
