In case you don't know what it is, this link can describe a God Helmet:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God_helmet

I would like to test one, and was wondering if there are do-it-yourself instructions available. However, I am having trouble finding any. If anybody could give me some help, I would be incredibly grateful.

EDIT:

I wanted to test an idea of mine. Some of you may be aware of a neat little experiment you can do with nothing but a radio, a red light, and ping pong balls.

You set up the light in the room (so that it is the only source of light), cut the ball in half and tape it over your eyes. Find a static, white noise station on the radio, and then plug your headphones into it and put on the headphones. After awhile, your brain will create hallucinations, being deprived of any visual or auditory stimulation (the light and noise acts of a sort of white noise for your brain).

I wanted to try this while wearing a God Helmet, to see what happens. It could have profound implications for science and religious philosophy.

EDIT #2: And please, I don't need people telling me why I should not do it. It is not helpful, and in no way answers the question. I am quite aware of any risks, and I believe that I am able to make such decisions on my own.

There's a reason why churches don't hand these out on sunday's. Its a scientific device that can affect your brain. Other people call that NOT A TOY!

Why would churches want to do that? That thing pretty much shows that all that mystical stuff comes right from one's brain, and can be switched on and off with a button. Wouldn't do a church much good, would it?

"The only attempt at replication published in the scientific literature reported a failure to replicate Persinger's effects." From that same article you linked.

The only thing that is is dangerous.

"at least 80 percent of his participants experience a presence beside them in the room"
"About one percent experienced God"
So really, the only result was that people were able to replicate the physical sensation that another animal being in the room makes. Which is often mistaken for a spiritual presence

So, building what The thing that this is described as in it's name isn't actually isn't possible.

But otherwise, It would be able to replicate the helm itself if you can find an official document about it, but I would recommend against it.

Well we can always offer them 50 bucks, but I figure its probably a good idea to do it in the lab. Neuroscience isn't exactly a home kit activity.

You have a good point there. I wonder if the westboro baptist nuts complained when they were doing the testing with this thing.

Yes. Play Red Faction Geurilla on hard, taking a break from insane Vogal, then play bayonetta. May cause (i mean it) long term damage.

All an awful lot like symptoms of seizures one can have while conscious....

Yeah, it sounds like circuit bending your brain. You don't want to do that.
