NO, but there IS NO conspiracy, but I think that the problem is that a terrorist can Google Earth Westpoint Naval Academy, then find out where to breach gates and crap like that. It is the PRINCIPAL of letting people look at classified military bases from orbit.

Considering you can actually travel to the place and make it as far as a fence that says 'keep out' I hardly think its suprising its on Google earth. Also, Im fairly sure the government wouldnt be stupid enough to do all there alien research shit at the most famous 'secret location' on earth. Probably just some empty buildings to draw attention aware from wherever they really keep E.T.

Why wouldn't it? it's just an old military base in the middle of nowhere.
Even if it is still important, darkless here makes a good point, if you want people to stop looking at things, just make them easy to see - then as far as conspiracy theorists are concerned the mystery goes away.
Unless the conspiracy theorists theorize that the government is lying to them and covering it up so it looks harmless.
yeah, but even if that's the case, there are bound to be a bunch of stupid consiracy theorists, and it'll knock out a good percentage of them.
Unfortunately, most conspiracy theorists (the ones we'd consider "stupid") are mindless, thoughtless sheep who follow any idea placed in their brains, thus if one conspiracy defined as I stated were to be put forth, all of the sheep would bleat the new conspiracy.

I'm quite surprised that someone really thought that the place itself was a secret.

EDIT: AND I DIDN'T IN ANY WAY SAY AREA 51 WAS SECRET!

you need an account with a website that posts images, like photobucket. All you have to do is upload the image to that website (after you sign up of course) and it will provide you with the url, and copy pate it in here, and voila (should look something like [ img ] blahblah.com [ /img ] without the spaces)

Also, I never believed in Area 51, prove me wrong!
believed in how? It EXISTS I just doubt it has aliens in it.

You used to be able to do that with road maps and a foreign concept called seeing it with your own eyes. Also everyone knows that terrorists don't have computers :).

... What's so special about Area 51?
It's where the US Airforce keeps all of our top secret UFO related technologies and the cures to diseases the the drug companies don't want you to know about. Oh, and Baskin-Robbins super-duper secret 32nd original flavor that causes immortality.
Oh s*** don't tell me they found a cure for ebola and the people at USAMRIID are just risking their lives and not getting anywhere fast!?!?!?!?

Because all the conspiracies about Area 51 are made up. It's just some normal old military base that they use for whatever they wish to use it for. Besides, even if they are having massive orgies with aliens doing some secret military research in laboratories down there, you're not going to know it by staring at the roof.

And the difference between looking at it on Google Earth and hiding in the hills watching with binoculars is that with Google Earth the military can just look at the particular picture, see that there's nothing going on in it that compromises national security, and ok it. If you're watching in real time, there's atleast a chance you might see something. So Google Earth is actually the safest thing Area 51 could be seen on.

Area 51 isn't that special, it was just a test site for military stuff like the Blackbird, it's just retarded people who think they hide alien ships there or some shit. If they still use area 51 then they wouldn't put the real one on google earth, they'd just put a fake one there for kicks.

I love that they labeled it "Area 51 (secret area)" on google earth, a real life "shhhh I'm an assassin"

The thing is, the government can hide secrets pretty easily based on the general public's stupidity and tendency to jump to conclusions without even putting a single thought into them. They are obviously threading the whole "alien conspiracy" through people's heads to cover up the true use of Area 51. Perhaps Area 51 is just a decoy for another secret military base. My point is that a "conspiracy" takes place when truth leaks out of a lie. If the government really wanted to keep a secret, nobody would know about it. But they purposely let these "conspiracies" exist to distract people from the truth. In that sense, a conspiracy is no longer a truth, but a lie in itself.

Yes american infidel, the great al qaida liberation army doesnt have any computers. At all. So all you american infidels out there dont look! YALALALALALALA!

And actually road maps dont give detailed plans of military instalations, and unless you're flying a heli, you're not going to be able to see the military base too clearly. The satelites give a MUCH better view of the installation, and make a plan very easy to make as you can see where the guard posts and blind spots are.

Yeees american infidel, the people's liberation army of al qaida and the greaat greeeaaat war hero osama dont have computers. And they're definitely not hacking into your infidel sites, american infidel! YALALALALALALA *Fires AK47 into the air*

And actually maps dont have details about the layout of the base, and all you can see with your own eyes is the fence and the first few buildings. Sattelites give a detailed view of the base and all the guard posts and blind spots in the base defenses. Greying out the sensitive military bases and such would make it harder to do any terrorist attacks on the sensitive bases.

they don't have secret stuff parked on a runway 24/7 365

they are daylight shots with nothing but sand and an airstrip plus a few corroding buildings

I think we should have an area like that though.

good point except a flat picture of a desert shows no blind spots, you cant look into the base without them seeing you because its located in a bowl. they don't have blind spots take for example fort Knox, they have 360 degree defenses and A51 is the same thing.

no blind spots

no weaknesses

everything is proly 100 feet below desert rock and sand in a concrete steel reinforced bunker

are you claiming that terrorist would want to break INTO an academy and try to start trouble?

they would just use a big bomb if they wanted to do anything because breaking in would equal their death and failure
