Arkham Asylum 2 to Be Darker and More Two-Faced

Batman's next console outing will be much darker than his first according to the Dark Knight's [http://www.amazon.com/Dark-Knight-BD-Live-Blu-ray/dp/B001GZ6QEC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1278528977&sr=1-1] voice actor, and will see the return of a much loved villain.

Kevin Conroy, who has lent his voice to the Dark Knight in a variety of projects, has confirmed to things about the upcoming sequel to last year's Arkham Asylum [http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=72504]: Firstly, that it will be much darker in tone than its predecessor and it will feature Two-Face as a villain.

Speaking at the C2E2 comic convention in Chicago, Conroy was reportedly tricked into revealing the inclusion of Two-Face in the game, and then tried to recover from the slip by saying "There's a very complicated cast. A lot of villains are in it. I'll just leave it at that!"

Conroy also said that the game would go to a dark place, comparing it to 2000's Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker [http://www.amazon.com/Batman-Beyond-Return-Original-Version/dp/B00005Y71K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1278529027&sr=1-1], a major plot point of which revolved around the Joker torturing Robin. "It involves a lot of the villains and it goes to that area," he said. "It's that dark."

Well, the first Arkham Asylum was already pretty dark, although I guess most of the bad stuff was ether just talked about or implied by the scenery. I'm assuming he means that a lot more of it will come bubbling to the surface.

Arkham Asylum was my absolute favorite game last year. I will be purchasing this on day one. The fact that the developers are making the game slightly more mature is music to my ears.

i already thought the first one was quite dark, but the titan formula somewhat detracted from that. i'd like to see a much grittier batman.

Epic news. If they are going to make it darker...heh, the gritty, dark and dank-ness that is batman. Gotta love it

Hmmmm...those words "darker" and "grittier" make me think more Frank Miller...

And that's NOT a good thing. Batman can be done SO badly in the wrong hands.

Edit: And I freaking loved AA.

I hope that two-face will be closer to Aaron Eckhart's rendition then Tommy Lee Jones. While the Joker is debatable, Jones was only portraying a mad guy in love with Mini-Wheats, while Eckhart gave the character both a moral and emotional reason for his evil.
my opinion in any case...

I want this game. Though, even though I'm this exited, I don't actually want it to release this year. 1 year is never enough if you ask me. No, I don't consider Left 4 Dead 2 to be an exception.

Sorry. It does sound like a pitch from Frank Miller.

But hey - if the gameplay's going to be good, i'm all for it.

Isn't making it too dark one of the reasons Tim Burton's Batman returns wasn't as well recieve? Although, it may have something to do with people expecting the more Blue-Suited (absurd gadget using, fights head on, almost flawless, automatically knows everything, grey body and often yellow emblem) Batman because of the Adam West parody. Personally, I thought the first was Black suit (dark, actions have consequences, stealthily fights, gadgets based more on actual technology, black armor with simple emblem, more of a detective than just a make-sh*t-up er) enough though I'm not going to say no to another Arkham Asylum... if we can still call it that...

Oh, and yes I've found that Batman can be classified by the artist's style more often than not.
(Note: Batman from the first game was leaning to the black suit, but did indeed have blue suit qualities such as Anti-thing spray, an extra batcave "just in case", a grey body, and the fact that the game was T. Joker was similiarly placed on the scale as he was more focued on chaos and death than on comic relief, had shot batgirl, didn't have too many wacky toys, but at the same time told jokes, used a few props and still had his signature gas, and thought that mutating was a good idea. It will be interesting to see what happens when the scale tips further)

Who cares if it's darker? Make it longer, don't improve the graphics (they are perfect as they are right now), and more Bat Gadgets.
