I supose thats one way to get PC owners to buy a port. Appeal to their sense of superiority.

For 10 times the price of an xbox 230 arcade you'd hope to get some benefits from a gaming rig.
Excuse me, but my PC costs less than an Xbox 360 nowadays. And it's pretty well-known that PC games look better, simply because of their superior (at least amongst the mid to high-end settings) GPU and raw power.
You're excused. Gaming rigs do cost more than consoles, I can pick up a 360 for £110. You can spend more than that on a graphics card. I'd want better graphics for the money.

Not being a parasitic student anymore I no longer own a gaming PC. It's not affordable.
Hoho. 110 pounds? I would be glad to take that money and spend just on a GPU. Maybe Xboxes are cheaper in UK, here they still cost over 1400 PLN, that's a lot more. About 230 pounds, I think. Sure, Arcade version is cheaper, but you should either buy Elite/Pro or nothing. it's just not worth it.

For instance, my GeForce 9800 was about 450 PLN (almost exactly 100 EUR) year ago in December, it's probably a lot cheaper now. But Arcade costs here almost 1000 PLN. For that much, I would be able to buy a new E7400, power supply and have enough money for 2x2GB RAM. And THAT would be a lot better than any Xbox.

Especially since I have almost 600GB on my HDD dedicated just for games. And downloads of course. And how much does an Xbox have, again...?

I just beat the game on the 360. I can't really see how the addition of PhysX would compensate for whatever cumbersome PC control scheme they'd have to shoehorn the console version into.

What a wired Xbox 360 controller

What cumbersome PC control? It's been a while since I've played a game so well-controlled on my PC.

Yeah, this to be fair; this is at the root of the reason why PhysX's is rarely used in games, and the cards haven't sold very well.

Meh. Console-oriented games tend to feel very much so on the PC. It feels cumbersome and awkward. I tend to buy a game for whatever system it was originally intended.

I agree - I played through The Last Remnant using a wired Xbox 360 controller and it worked beautifully, which you'd expect since it was also an enhanced port of a 360 game. I far prefer the gamepad compatibility for these kind of games over some shoddy mouse/keyboard implementation - it's more about the control scheme the game was originally designed for than the platform itself.

Now that PhysX is owned by nVidia and built into all their higher-end video cards, this is a pretty good way to promote it. If someone is in the market, the fact that some good games included PhysX enhancements that I could only see with an nVidia card might convince them to choose nVidia over an equivalent ATI card.

Of course, since it's nVidia-exclusive, it can only ever be 'extra pretty' and not anything significant to gameplay. It would be better if the two of them could agree on a single standard, then we all win. Looking at the comparison video, I would much rather have the option for the extra pretty than not be able to see it, given a choice.

A dedicated physics card was a pretty stupid idea though, though not quite as stupid as the KillerNIC.

What a ripoff. EVERYTHING they shows is PRE SCRIPTED. For all consoletards with no knowledge of designing actual games whatsoever: every single "physics" object is following a path outset by the developers long before the game was launched. I'm off to some torrent sites to start uploading the console versions to spite those pretentious moron.

It may be pre built into all Nvidia cards, but you're probably still gonna want a dedicated card for PhysX if you want it to run well. I still don't get PhysX anyway. I like it when physics is implemented for a purpose, such as Red Faction, but having to spend more on a PC to see paper move and cloth tear doesn't really make sense to me. When I had an 8800GT I used my old 8600GT as a PhysX card and gave it a try. It's nice and new and shiny at first but didn't really last for me.

Edit: Person above me, I don't quite understand what you are saying. The whole point of these new PhysX systems is that they are context sensitive. Sure, the developers will give objects material properties to affect how they move, but apart from that, you can move stuff wherever you want (game permitting).

DirectX 11 has a new set of compute shaders that work much the same as CUDA does currently so hopefully that will become the new standard for hardware physics

I'm finally getting a well needed PC upgrade next week. I so want to try this game out!

So, is it any good? or is it just all "Wooooww!..." but sucky gameplay?

Good for PC owners I guess. The game seemed very pretty on my PS3 anyway, and this doesn't really add much to it.
