Maybe Rome in the time of Rome would be nice. All I know is that I will be very disappointed if they don't use a fresh setting for AC3.

i had an idea after i saw something in ACB. out of the animus i saw a message in Shaun's email from William M. In the email he gave the status of other assassin teams in different locations, i think they were Sao Paolo, Moscow, Denver, and Tokyo. I wouldnt be surprised if those are where Desmond might travel outside of the animus, I could be wrong because Desmond has to find the temples (which looked Myan). no clue about AC3's next ancestor or his/her location and time but i'd like to see a girl assassin to play as maybe during WWII but thats just me.
I think England during the civil-war or France during the revolution would be awsome. Both have historical situations wich the AC-team can be creative with.
I gotta say, Ancient Egypt seems like the most tempting for me, tho I'd love to have a spin off game where you play in Feudal Japan. All we need is a CROUCH BUTTON.
Big hitch: You need to set it in a place and time that's "swordy". Basing an AC in a world with heaps of guns (Even old western times) means you'd just get shot down or it'd just become a third-person shooter.
I gotta say, a time with pirates would be awesome. Jumping from ship to ship mid-naval battle, leaping through docks and pirate ports and scaling the tropical jungles of the carribbean would be excellent.

Feudal Japan doesn't sound too bad. Ubisoft gets to reuse their sword fighting models. And Samurais!
Settings like Japan, India and China are almost certainly too far fetched considering that Desmond's family has to immigrate to America.
As far as that plotline goes it makes much more sense for the next game to be set somewhere in Europe, probably somewhere further north, so I would say the most likely settings are the French Revolution and Industrial London.

I don't know where Assassin's Creed 3 will take place,but i know Assassin Creed 4 will take place........IN SPACE!
Joke aside,I really hope AC3 would take place either in early 20th century Russia (imagine if you're fighting agaisnt Rasputin) or in Ancient China during The 3 Kingdom Era (Imagine if you're working with Zhuge Liang just like how Ezio working with Leonardo)

Personally I'm for anything, but I wouldn't want them to risk making a bad game.
I'm hoping for a modern day setting, maybe modern Italy to see how the environments changed. I'm just hoping they don't rely on guns too much. They could give Desmond a pistol like a glock 17 to replace the hidden gun since it's concealable or a .357 if they want to keep the 6 shot limit. And maybe give the guards a carbine to replace crossbows from Brotherhood but that's about it.

I'd say Japan during the rapid movement to modernization. Either that or China, somewhere in Asia. It would be a nice change of pace, and would show what ninjas really did rather than how Hollywood or Ninja Gaiden portrayed them. And intercutting between Desmond's world and certain tasks he can perform would be awesome too.
Gotta put my hand in for the Victorian England movement as well. I would explode with delight if they announced that as the next time and location, and you bet your ass I'd email Ubisoft every day telling them not to screw it up.
They sort of have to have the game set in modern times, since that is the only way to finish the story, which happens in 2012. It would make no sense to have a futuristic game set in 2012 if the year is 2014.
