Avengers #41 Cover is an Exact Copy of an Earlier Comic

Marvel has confirmed the cover for Avengers #41, but it looks awfully familiar!

Haven't we seen this cover before? Marvel [http://escapistmagazine.com/tag/view/marvel] has revealed its plans for February 2015, and within that chunk of many incoming comics is the information for Avengers #41. With a bare minimum of solicit text for the comic, what stands out is the cover.

The cover is the same as the 2002 cover for Ultimates #1 [http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20090728190346/marveldatabase/images/8/83/Ultimates_Vol_1_1.jpg] by Bryan Hitch. Marvel has confirmed that this is the exact image.

Writing Avengers #41 is Jonathan Hickman, who happens to also be writing "Time Runs Out" [http://escapistmagazine.com/tag/view/secret%20wars] storyline in Avengers. The solicit text for Avengers #41 states, "In 3 months... time runs out!"

Ultimates was based on The Avengers but in an alternative-reality reimagining in which government-sponsored metahumans Captain America, Giant-Man, Wasp, the Hulk, and Iron Man are a part of a strike force to fight supervillains.

Marvel's decision to resurface a cover is significant, but we still don't know exactly what's in store beyond some possible breakdowns of parallel dimensions or universes. Marvel has already revealed Secret Wars will result in the destruction of some universes. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/138447-Marvels-New-Secret-Wars-Will-Involve-15-Recently-Teased-Titles] Universes are also colliding thanks to New Avengers. Perhaps multiverse shenanigans are underway.

Marvel never seems to make things simple or straightforward. Let the theories on this cover's meaning begin!

Ooh, can we get rid of the Sentry? While I like the idea of a neurotic Superman-type, the fact that he pretty much figured out Spider-man's true identity from very few clues, and is on par intellectually with Reed Richards and other over-the-top varieties, I really want him gone.
