It's a very somber, bittersweet song that moves methodically and yet you can't help but get hooked.

well knock on wood eh?

My respect meter for you has went up, as another fan of Brutal Legend's soundtrack. Angel Witch is a favorite of mine.

So awesome.
I'll see your Scottish pirate metal, and raise you some good old Oirish punk. As far as drinking songs go...

OK the last one isn't technically Irish, or technically a drinking song, but it's awesome

Dafuq is metalgate? And this is coming from a metalhead. (searches a bit) oh. FFS. That is all I have to say.

Edit: please don't answer my question. It has been answered.

Tod und Verklärung (Death and Transfiguration) by Richard Strauss.

Especially for the third movement, which is around the middle of it. Just go to 12:00 and listen to the brass play beneath the strings.

Coleridge-Taylor's Violin Concerto

Halvorsen's Passacaglia for Viola and Violin.

And a rather obscure piece many people know about that I like because pipe organs sound powerful

I... feel like my definition of "awesome" might be stretching it a bit... and, frankly my dear, I don't give a fuck...

So. What awesome songs can you guys post here? Only awesome songs. I don't care about genre or anything. The only thing I do NOT WANT is Black Metal from Norway (those guys scare me).

It's tragic that they only released three albums. I still spin California quite regularly though, it's probably their easiest to listen to and I love how they put their wacky elements into really pretty-sounding songs.

Have you listened to Secret Chiefs 3? I consider their Book of Horizons album to be a "spiritual successor" to California (though sadly, no Mike Patton).

How about a few songs from a metal band with a fairly positive vibe.
Oh & the singer looks like he should be a wizard, which is awesome by itself.

At the very least Faith No More will have a new album soon. Which I am very excited for.

I haven't given any Secret Chiefs 3 albums a listen yet, but I am interested in doing so for sure. I think I need to let California sink in a little more first, though.

*For those who get motion sick very easily, here's your disclaimer.
This song has one of the best choruses I've ever heard.

This song is a bit short, but it has amazing clean vocals. Also, the way it picks up in the second half has a way of getting your head bobbing.

Amazing deep clean vocals and a hard hitting chorus, what's not to love?

Seeing a female lead in a hardcore band is a bit rare, and it's even rarer when they sound good. I guess it helps that she's not the one doing the screams. Anyway's, these guys are a hella good lesser known band and this song proves it.

So I know you said no black metal, but how about atmospheric metal. Saor is a one man act from Scotland and his music captures the spirit on the land perfectly. There is some sorrow but there is also joy and purpose. Simple put this is on of my favorite songs.

All i have to say about Van Canto is A Capella Metal covers. Did i get your attention, good because they're awesome!

Yes they're are as ridiculous and amazing as they sound. If you Fantasy/Power metal I think these guys are some of the best and most underrated.

SABATON would be a cheesy power metal band if they weren't so good. They also have the best live show i have ever been to.

I enjoy female fronted symphonic metal and right now i am enjoying Within Temptation the most.

Now its time for something completely different!October Gold, an alt-folk duo based out of Montreal, with lyrics co-written by Steven Erikson, and yes that Steven Erikson. The man wrote the Malazan books of the fallen.

Full disclaimer I know these guys and they are awesome. it also helps that I think their music is awesome, and i don't even like Elctro-Pop.

This is a Irish Funeral Song and since im part Irish I am biased, But that will not stop me from saying that is awesome and sorrowful and beautiful.

There are a few more song that are not on you tube so i will post links to them below.

Im sorry this video is terrible, but its the only live version of the song i could find. It is haunting, beautiful and amazing!

John Lyttleton, At the Battle of Maldon. At least in teh UAS there is not a video of this song on you tube. If you have Spotify look up the song it is awesome. Or go to amazon and listen to the 30 second clip.

This is an amazing fusion of Rhythm & Blues and Electronica(I think, don't know enough about genres).

And here is some (pseudo?)Celtic music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiwuQ6UHMQg Link only due to length of video.
The genre that describes this song is called "Deep House". Usually noted with soulful vocals, an easy going tune, and the feeling that you're in a lounge listening to this while hot people sway their hips.

I personally gravitate more to the 'summer' selection, such as this [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtoNGXUjA0A]. I hope you enjoy
