Bad Company One's Singleplayer was more famed for its' hit-or-miss offbeat comedy style than the actual campaign itself, but Bad Company 2 seems to be going down a different road.

When I say that, I don't mean it's being CoD-serious about itself, it seems to be upbeat action-movie sort of semi-seriousness.

The Singleplayer trailer explains this, in my opinion. It seems to be that the characters will retain their personalities and the game will not take itself entirely seriously, but there will be less single-handed invasions of PMC-infested countries.

Anyone want to express their opinion?

EDIT: Also, at the start it seems SUPR SRS, but then it goes all montage stylee. And Haggard headbutts a guy. Win.

*is now fucking getting this game*

Well, I think that looks awesome, and a strong singleplayer and a strong multiplayer could be awesome.

I know, and it sucks because DICE fucked over their PC fans by not releasing Bad Company 1 on the PC.

I mean, I really wanted to play a less-serious battlefield game, too.

EDIT: But after playing the beta, it still seems pretty fun.

It seems awesome, I'm so getting it on release day! What makes it even more awesome is that they had the song "You Think I Ain't Worth A Dollar, But I Feel Like A Millionaire" by Queens of The Stone Age in the background.

Also, one of the most noticeable things that Bad Company does better than any FPS I know, is the vehicles. Seriously, I can't get enough on driving the small four-wheelers. They could make an effing racing game out of it and I'd still love it.

I rally liked the characters and tone of the first game and the parody trailers were brilliant. I hope this doesn't get lost in the sequel.

$ people can't destroy as much as 4000 people.

Battles and fire fights should be really heated, and flying rubble serves to make it an incredible gaming atmosphere. I'm most definately getting this game when I get a computer that can run it on Very High settings.

As long as they fix the unreadable text from the beta, and balance the engineers and nerf the hell oout of tanks, this could be good. COULD.

Unreadable text? Is that an SDTV problem?

i liked the tone of the first game, i like the tone of the second game too. i think that it's good that dice is willing to change up the mood from corny humor to over the top action. either way, i won't be taking the game seriously, but at least this way i'll have a pretty steady flow of adrenaline in my veins.

Well, it's more of a crappy 19 inch, fifteen year old tv problem, but I can read every other game's text, damn it! Except for the number 2.

I've not had a problem with any of those things. Text is clearly readable for me. Are you playing it on a Standard Definition TV or something?

Ah, heh. Guess so.

And the engineers don't seem OP to me. What is it about them that makes you think that?

And tanks? Nerfed? Vehicles aren't meant to be easy to kill. They're supposed to require teamwork. Of course I'm assuming you're not doing that, but then I've killed a few tanks single-handedly myself, so I don't think they're overpowered or anything, just don't expect to survive when you start getting shot at by a tank.

I never found the engineers overpowered, either. Sure, if you had an LMG and were moving and ran into one, you'd die, but the engineer is supposed to be the best in close-quarters bar a shotgun.

I've always found tanks funny to kill solo. In BF2142, I was playing as an Engineer and I was solo against one of those walkers, and I just kept running in between its' legs and I took it down by myself. That was fun.

And then the explosion sent you flying upwards high enough to kill you if you didn't deploy your shoot! Good times indeed. I was always a gunship pilot in that game. With a good gunner they really dominated. One TV+a few missiles killed every vehicle, and the Machine Gun just mowed down infantry like grass. But they weren't exactly tough. Bit of a glass cannon.

Not engineers maybe, but there was something that was lame like that... Can't quite recall it. But anyway, the tanks would respawn quickly, were easy to use, and could shrug off rocket rounds. They would also spawn camp terribly. My problem is that they take teamwork to kill, but only one person to use, because the driver is also the gunner. It can be funny to rambo over and c4 them to death, but you still probably need a distraction. If they took different positions for driver and gunner, and if they stopped for a few seconds if rocket launchered I would be fine with 'em. I think they also should start with more of them, but they don't respawn.

Do you have epic tank battles, or save them? Do you sabotage, or hijack?

I think I like the tone of the game. I haven't decided yet on a purchase, with only one trailer for the singleplayer so far...I'll need to see at least one more before deciding.

I hope they still keep the off-beat phrases and mini cut-scenes during missions.

Haggard: How do y'know she's pretty? I once dated a girl with the voice of an angel, but ugly as hell.
Sweetwater: Wasn't that your cousin?
Haggard: Yep.
Sweerwater: Oh......cool.

Agreed. The fact that it was done well really helped the game overall differ itself from other FPS's, most of which have dead serious single-player modes

halo for me has the best vehicle sections, easy to control and are their are loads but if you go by realism then fair enough =)

OT: im impressed... finally a decent bad company game, multi player demo was ok but i found really hard...but good don't get me wrong.

single player looks decent as well
might acctualy get it =)

Yeah, I'm interested. However, I don't have a current generation console.

I'm pretty sure the next trailer will make us laugh.
