The 3 second rule or any variation. It was on the floor. Even if you pick it up.. it was still on the floor.

are you allowed to have babies under a year old?
More than likely, no. Or the baby would have to be put on the lease as well so it's responsible for something.

We have a cell phone rule at work that gives us an automatic termination for taking it out. I only take mine out to check the time :|

I have to leave it at home or keep it in the car to avoid the temptation.

the one i like is "No Food Or Drink On The Tram" (a tram is like a miniature train that runs through our town XD)

i like this one, mainly because no one follows it :/ you get the conductor occasionally telling people off, but he ignores half the people chomping on a McDonalds... its a silly rule~

a rule i hated at school was used by our drama teacher, basically the drama room had 2 doors, but you weren't allowed in through the door that led outside, you had to go all the way around through the hallways
JUST LET US IN WOMAN! T^T

Most of the rules I know are there for perfectly valid reasons.

And lighten up people; Rule 34 is hilarious.

Fuck it. What is Rule 34? I'd rather look stupid than have this bother me anymore. If it is just a stupid internet thing though, then atleast Ill feel fine about not knowing it.

Damn you Escapists and your semantics :p

I hated the rule on my graduation day where I had to be in my seat 45 minutes before the start of the ceremony and I wasn't allowed to leave it until the end. It seemed so scary and I was terrified of not being allowed to graduate (my mum was yelling at me to get my skates on in the morning cos she didn't want to be late!). When we got there, it actually didn't seem that strict. Bloody scare-mongering... I didn't drink anything all morning in case I needed the toilet halfway through!

EDIT: Rule 34 is the rule that if it exists, there's probably going to be porn of it. See: Left 4 Head.

It's not stupid. Pets under a year old are far more likely to be ill behaved and ruin the carpet, drapes, or furniture. Given that the landlord can waltz into your place whenever he likes, you were pretty much destined to be found out.
While that is a good point, my apartment isn't exactly...um..."classy". We rented it with several large stains on the carpet and a couple of broken cabinets. Our kitten is incredibly friendly with people, even complete strangers, and only the refridgerator and dishwasher belong to the apartment. There isn't anything the cat could destroy that wasn't already destroyed that belongs to the complex.
If that's the case, do yourself a favor and make a list of everything that was already faulty, stained or broken when you moved in and go over the entire list with the owner.
That way you'll avoid getting in trouble over things you didn't do when you move out.
Trust me, it can save you a lot of problems.

I agree with Rule 34 here. And all the other so-called rules of the internet that came from the same place.

Rule 34 sucks, as does my last school's "No Bullying" policy, which I seemed exempt from.
Ah yes, they always seem to turn a blind eye to the retards, yet notice when I hit 'em in the face. And try to get ME in trouble for getting the idiots outta my face. Oh well, they'll be stuck in that shithole long after I'm gone.

My high school had a rule against using iPods or other electronic devices at lunch. It was a new rule, instituted that year out of blind fear that the school would be held responsible for the theft or loss of expensive electronic equipment. It's a legitimate concern, I suppose, but as far as I know, the school itself had never been implicated legally in a case like that.

Anyway, the thing that makes the rule stupid is that it exacerbated the problem. Telling students that they can't have something is a sure fire way to get them to bring it in anyway. It would have been just as easy to have a release form every student has to sign at the beginning of the year or something.
