Batman: The Killing Joke Animated Film Will Expand on Original Story

The animated film adaption of The Killing Joke will add more to the original story.

During an interview with Comicbook.com [http://www.contv.com/browse-movie/]), Executive Producer Bruce Timm stated that, although he isn't allowed to discuss the casting or story specifics for the upcoming animated film adaptation of Batman: The Killing Joke, the team is trying to stay "very faithful" to the source material.

"Whenever we do an adaptation of a really famous iconic comic... we try to stay very faithful to the comic, to the source material, as much as possible," Timm said. "Killing Joke is a really tricky property because it's really bleak, but we made a decision early on that if we're gonna do it, then we kinda have to just jump in and just do it."

"The one big difference about it... is The Killing Joke, the source material is really not long enough to make an entire feature film out of, so we actually had to add a lot more story to it. Which is tricky," Timm continued. "But I think we came up with a really good solution on how that worked, and beyond that I can't really say anything more until July, or whenever it comes out."

The film adaptation was announced in July [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/141532-Batman-The-Killing-Joke-Will-Be-An-Animated-Film]. At that time, it was revealed that the film will feature an "original 15-minute prologue that helps set up the story, giving even longtime fans of the story something new to look forward to."

The film will premiere at San Diego Comic-Con, which runs from July 21-24.

They will add a new ending where Batman says "good joke" while escorting a handcuffed Joker to a police car. lol. Either that or he will be seen standing over a body. Hopefully they wont do anything so stupid.

There's a good chance they'll take the opportunity to introduce Barbara Gordon as Oracle.

That was a later salvaging of the character that wasn't in the original.

They should add story to the start of it, which results in the start of the Killing Joke, Batman going to visit Joker only to find out he is not there.

The actual Killing Joke should be the the third act.

I guess that make sence since the graphic novel isn't that long so the animated version would be less than 60 minutes without the added new materials?

Yes yes yes now is Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy going to reprise their respective roles or not? Because if not this movie is dead in its crib.

Now despite all that stuff I said in my thread. I still like Batman, Its just that I am not a "Batman only" fan like so many people.

Anyway this is one of my favorite comic stories of Batman. And seeing it gave me that athmosphere of the Batman Animated Series. Heck I believe the show was heavily taking tonal notes from this comic. And of course Bruce Timm is doing this one, all it needs is Paul Dini.

Um...yes. Where have you been (just kidding, just kidding)? The big deal about this was that they're coming back, that Mark Hamill specifically said he wouldn't do the Joker ever again after the Arkhams unless he was asked to do The Killing Joke.

A fan of this impersonator myself though keep in mind it's an older video of his that I only chose because it's the most popular/most viewed
I just hope Hamill's voice holds out to finish this entire movie. I like to think that the reason Joker was sick in Arkham City was to excuse Hamill's throat coughs from doing the voice for so long. AND, that the reason he wanted to be done with anything other than a Killing Joke offer after City was that. Of course,
they enticed him to do Arkham Knight partly because of The Killing Joke references and short hallucinatory reliving and he didn't retain much of that condition as a hallucination
Hmm, I may be overthinking it. It just seems like such a taxing voice to do, but I cannot remembering hearing or reading anything on Hamill saying the voice was taking a toll on him.
