Beefy New Super Smash Bros Update Adds Tourney Mode, New Stages

Nintendo announced the update, which includes the highly anticipated Tourney Mode, earlier today.

Last month Nintendo revealed three new DLC characters for Super Smash Bros.: Ryu from Street Fighter [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/141053-Super-Smash-Bros-Gets-Lucas-DLC-This-Month]. Now we have learned that the fighting game will be getting a hefty free update, scheduled to hit on July 31.

On Facebook [https://www.facebook.com/SmashBrosEN/photos/a.266600980180256.1073741830.224173137756374/462327413940944/?type=1] this morning the game's official account revealed details for the upcoming update for Super Smash Bros.

The update for the Wii U version is going to include the option to post replay uploads to YouTube along with the highly anticipated Tourney Mode. Both the Wii U and 3DS versions of the game will add paid DLCs of new Mii Fighter costumes in addition to new stages.

The Nintendo UK Twitter account also confirmed these updates.

This is pretty fetch. The lack of a tournament mode was one one of my biggest gripes with the game at release. Now they just gotta add a classic mode that more closely resembles earlier games and I'll be happy (seriously, though, why would they call it Classic if it's loaded with new mechanics??)

P.S. Thanks

The lack of a classic story mode like the original and melee was what killed it for me, as well. Had fun with it, but that didn't stop me from feeling like I got ripped off immeasurably.
