I rest my case then. Then again, I have a high tolerance for fictional blood and guts. That's why I can sit through hours and hours of movies/games/manga/etc with a lot of brutality. The keyword in that last sentence is fictional. You can't make me see a snuff movie (unless you give me money for the psychological treatment later plus more to set me for life, then maybe I'd consider it).Erana said:Just that picture in the OP scars me more than God of War.Syntax Error said:If you're ok with anything that went out after God of War, then you'll come out unscathed from the link.Erana said:You know, I like the idea that someone acknowledges that there is such violence in games, but I daren't click that link.
Seriously though, I'd like that "Kirb your hunger" bit on a T-shirt.
Blood? I'm fine with. Its the guts that bother me. And things that are made to be unrealistically organ-tastic, especially when presented in a chipper manner, give me a case of monster-in-my-closet.Syntax Error said:I rest my case then. Link?Internet Kraken said:This is nothing new. I've seen this done many times before.
Though I have seen this type of art before I don't know where to find it. I imagine you could find some on an image hosting site that is popular for game art. You could probably find some flash animations of this on Newgrounds.nova18 said:Link?Internet Kraken said:This is nothing new. I've seen this done many times before.
I want more pixellated violence.
Their funny but true, same as how Tom and Jerry is brutal to watch if you imagine the reality behind it.
That's where this guy is spouting bullshit, no sane kid or even adult would instantly recognize a goomba being squished then disappearing as some gore riddled act of grotesque murder. Games haven't always been about portraying unhindered acts of psychotic violence. Except Dig Dug, that one was a bit crazy.Mstrswrd said:Why not? It just puts into images what we already knew was happening.Erana said:You know, I like the idea that someone acknowledges that there is such violence in games, but I daren't click that link.
I would love to wear one around town. Anyone who sees and recognizes what's going on will be sure to stop and think...xmetatr0nx said:You know what, i want all those images on a t-shirt now.
Not really. I always looked at games as a much more violent media then they were originally recognized as. I thought in Mario, when I first played it (I was about 4-5), "Cool, Mario crushes them with his body weight, and they die." In Zelda, I thought "Link stabs things with his sword. He must be aiming for the heart, since these things are getting killed in one hit." And so on. I wasn't necessarily imagining the violence in all it's gore, but I did realize that if someone jumps on someone elses head hard enough, it "explodes," so to speak, in a shower of gore, and if you stab something with a sword, there will be blood. It just wasn't rendered as violent in the game itself.Lvl 64 Klutz said:That's where this guy is spouting bullshit...
Chiller was very disturbing. Any game where you have to shoot the vice handle on the vice to crush a helpless person's head is really sick.GonzoGamer said:Great stuff.
I kind of like Bob Dob's approach better though.
Some of those old games really were that violent though. Anyone here remember Chiller. That was a sick bit of programming right there.
? Not quite sure, haven't seen it yet... Is it like a banner ad or something? If it doesn't make noise then I wouldn't notice, as I try to ignore adsChromeAlchemist said:P.S. What the hell's with this 'I made $375 an hour using google' ad I keep seeing everywhere? It's starting to get on my tits.
It does make noise. Refreshing the page doesn't stop it, you have to close it all together.scotth266 said:? Not quite sure, haven't seen it yet... Is it like a banner ad or something? These paintings are awesome... I want the Pac-Man one on a shirt.
That's just a start. 8-bit is very nasty when it comes to those things. Ever read Seanbaby's article about them?Khell_Sennet said:If you really want to get into how bad 8bit can be, look for a ROM of "Custer's Revenge". The first rape simulator ever made, up yours Rapelay!
Here I was, foolishly thinking that the ratings system is designed to prevent that. Of course, you could stop corrupting children by ceasing producing them...Malygris said:desensitizing our children
