I think maybe moderators have better things to attend to than Monty Python paraphrases.

Does this one post (which was meant to imply that I agree with the overall 'me too' attitude people tend to adopt towards bisexuality) really pose a threat to Law And Order on the Escapist? Nah.

Still, apologies if you felt that I was somehow to derail your thread.

I think it's a combination of things.

(For the record: I'm female and attracted to both sexes; as a general rule I like dudes more than chicks, call it maybe a 60/40 split?)

For one thing, it's hard to describe sexuality. What do you call yourself if sometimes you're only attracted to women and sometimes only attracted to men? What about if men intimidate you so you only pursue women? Are you still bi if you're married to a dude? What's the best word for mostly-likes-dudes-except-periodically-yay-bosoms?

A friend of mine called herself bi while in the process of coming out as a lesbian, so there's that too.

And then there are the girls who are bi at parties so they can make out with girls to get their boyfriends hot, which is somewhere between repulsive and contemptible. Especially since, jeez, way to ruin it for the rest of us.

You know, I gotta say Suiseiseki or whatever the hell Japanese name you picked out, you're being kind of a dick. People post irrelevant shit on here all the time (yes his post was irrelevant and so was the first part of mine), why are you singling him out?

Teenagers claiming bisexuality has been going on for years now. I'm just waiting for the day they grow out of it, look back over the pictures of themselves making out with other emo kids, become completely ashamed of their 'me too' attitude and then beating their children to make sure history doesn't repeat itself.

Alas, I think this is just a fantasy of mine...

I don't get bi people, that said I don't get gay people either... that said I don't really get women either. empathy isn't my strong suit.

I mean I've kissed a guy (well, he kissed me and then I floored him with a right hook) and I don't see the attraction, even though this was a particularly soft-lipped fellow... with muscular thighs... and a hunkish swagger... and... and...

sorry lost my train of though.

anyway my point is, it all makes me feel a bit iffy so I don't get why people do it. and I guess saying you're bi is easier than coming out as a full blown homo. besides they're probably all a bunch of nutless, skinny jeans wearing (funny how those go together so well) social "misfits" who think that coldplay are worse than hitler and that kings of leon are actually any good at all. so fuck 'em.

anyways, I'm straight as a die... hmmm... I like that word... "die"...

Hm, certainly very touchy subject. I knew a group of girls once, many, of whom claimed to be bisexual, and I wasn't quite sure which way to take it. I'll have to say right now that I was absolutely mad about one of them, and from what I knew about her she was just very very confused. She seemed to be spending her time experimenting about things, trying to see what she liked and what she didn't, so I guess that what caused her to believe she was bisexual was that she was simply curious. I don't want to say that she was simply saying things to be different and to stand out, but after we "broke up" as it were, she seemed to go back to being pretty much straight.

So, yeah, I think it's just confusion, and the fact that people are comfortable in saying things when they're not entirely convinced, that's caused this strange trend.

As a matter of interest shall we all agree to go out into our various social groups stating some random personal fact (all doing the same one of course) and see if we can make that a trend as well.
Say for example... well I can't think of one, lets form a think tank and blow down this wall of writer's block

Did people claim to be black before? Pretty sure that's more obviously a lie than saying you're Bisexual.

One guy did the "I'm bi" claim at my school, so we said how he liked guys cocks in his mouth, he claimed he didn't and that he wasn't bi any more and then no one ever did it again.

Wait, couldn't applying the idea of "Black" with an associated form of acting be offensive to people who actually are black? Simply a question.

Edit: Oh, and this is regarding the title.

Yeah, bisexuality is getting a lot more popular. It's strange.

In my opinion, there are very few people on this planet who are ACTUALLY bisexual.
[small]...there's the guy who wrote One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest...and Tila Tequila...I guess...[/small]

Bisexuality is a mixed bag. On the one hand, it could mean that you literally have no idea what you're sexual orientation is, which I consider to be kinda scary, thus I can sympathize. On the other hand, it could simply mean that you're a whore. A tremendous, filthy whore.

Also, keep in mind that, and this is proven fact, that most people who claim to be bisexual, have only had sex one gender. So THERE IS such a thing as a genuine bisexual[small]...like Tila Tequila...[/small]

That's referring to the idea that the color black is always in fashion. Like when people say "[something] is the new black" they're usually referring to fashion trends but it's an applicable idiom for most trends.

I've never really understood bisexuality myself. I go to a highschool where for some odd reason I'm surrounded by teenagers (wierd huh?) and while it's either very easy to tell someones sexual orientation at this place or most people speak easy of their sexual orientation I don't know anyone there that is bisexual. There are (Or were since they graduated) a few blokes who were openly homosexual but apart from that most of us are straight as a picket fence. So I don't think bisexuality's becoming some kind of new fad among dipshit teenagers who don't know any better (Excuse me) but then again maybe that's just Australia.

Reckon so, I've been thinking that lately myself, but then it's either the slutty women or the ugly ones. So either way it's just: "Sure that's great. Leave me alone." Given the way they're pretty much: "IM BI, IM BI!"

Oh, then I'm not as familiar with cultural phrases as I had thought. I was under the impression that it was the phenomenon where people developed an obsession with Hip-Hop culture and it became falsely known as "acting black". My mistake.

1. I know what my sexual orientation is: I'm attracted to both genders. It's really not that scary.

2. Saying you can't be bi until you've had sex with a man and sex with a woman is like saying you're asexual until you've gotten your cherry popped. Being bi has nothing to do with sexual experience.

Attention. I'm sorry but that is how I fele about everoyne who says it, because I know so many people who have said they were bisexual or homosexual for attention. Unless I get to know them and I truly find out that they are that sexual orientation, then that is how I will think of everyone who says it.

I don't see why it matters, and why everyone who says their bi feels like they got to tell someone. Its not really important to tell your friend your bi...unless you were gonna ask them out or something
